The two long 'antennae' are waxy secretions from the back of the bug, designed to confuse predators (and of course, you). Rob I think you were correct in your identification of the alien bugs, I looked up the name and found this photo which looks very similar to the white things that were invading my car. I now have a different bug resident on my car which looks like a cross between a brown leaf and a moth (see other photo), these things also jump when touched.
