Chris Wilson
A customer has asked me what the best on board camera set up is for an open cockpit race car. He wants commercial broadcast quality video recording. I know there are a few video buffs here, what's the score these days for this sort of thing? He won't have much space for anything bulky, camera will mount to roll hoop. Vibration will be severe for the recording device. Thanks.
Nick
I've never used any of their stuff personally Chris, but friends of mine speak very well of this company: http://www.chasecam.com

scotty71
The Contour HD is a good bet also Chris runs at 720p and the quality looks pretty good. Records to SDhc cards and needs no external power source. With it being aimed/sold for the headcam market its small and portable. You can mount it in varoius ways. Im looking to get one soon for track day footage and looking for the best deal. Here is the Contour HD in action on a Focus ST. The audio is via the Zoom H2 audio recorder which is a great bit of kit also, I have a zoom. 44tbmiLSqos The Contour would mount nicely onto the roll hoop and with the Contour being small would be a good choice. 2hrs battery time is also not bad at all http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/dvdhouse/vholdr-contour-hd-4.jpg[/img]"] Scotty
