Gaz Walker Posted November 10, 2002 Share Posted November 10, 2002 I have the SBC ID set up on channel 1 with volume to 58 and gain to 5 - this sets the boost to 14.1-14.5psi I don't hit boost cut (boost warning is at 14.5, dials back boost when hit) The cats are still in running stock exhaust (to be replaced asap!) Also, I am getting a weird noise (only occasionally) when the 1st turbo spools at 1800 rpm+ Its strange, kinda sounds like like something clicking very fast - this happens when its set to Channel 1. Matt Harwood Posted November 10, 2002 Share Posted November 10, 2002 If it's anything like the Blitz DSBC, you can hear the solenoids clicking away when the units switched on. (Or at least I could when it was mounted to the inner wing, now I have mine mounted to one on the intake pipes and I can't hear it any more ). Darren Posted November 10, 2002 Share Posted November 10, 2002 Mine does the same had me quite worried!I thought the dump valve was leaking due to the higher boost! Alex Posted November 10, 2002 Share Posted November 10, 2002 I've got mine installed and working for over a year now.... due to only having one working hand at the moment I can't be arsed to type out what I've done...but PM me if you want my no. to give me a ring... for starters a gain of 5 is fine...but mine is set to 30! But if you took both out you probably wouldn't really need the boost controller cos you would be pretty close to 1.2 anyway. Atleast with the controller you can turn it up and down. Leon used my boost controller to try to keep it DOWN to 1.3 ish I still fitted a restrictor plate which brought it down to 1.1, and now use the DSBC to get back to 1.3 for my more 'enthusiastic' moments Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Alex Posted November 10, 2002 Share Posted November 10, 2002 I mangled my left hand under a lump of steel...joy of joy's...just to answer that one. I found that my decat add nothing...bar a bit of midrange. But it took away alot of heat. I had the sbc-id in for about 6months before i decatted it. With a decat i run 30 set and 32 gain. I hit 1.36bar max....unless its reall cold. I ran 55set before the decat but didn't need to go so high afterwards. My advice would be to get an egt gauge and use that to govern your boost...I'm not but I know deep down this could be a costly mistake. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I mounted mine by the air intake....which is noisey enough to drown out most things.....could have put it closer but i didn't know at the time that that was best practice.
