Really loud whooshing noise as 2nd turbo kicks in

Car seems to run fine although it might be slightly deeper and louder. When i put my foot furthur down as the 2nd turbo starts to spin up it gets really loud whooshing noise even slightly rattly noise to it. Doesnt sound nice anyway. No loss in performance but ive only done it twice. Once when i heard it and once to check so dont want to make anything worse than it already is.

Any ideas?

no it is serious if you go under boost with this pipe not connect it can f3ck the turbos up.

If it's t'd into the same vac hose as the fuel pressure regulator you could melt a piston as well so it's deffo a good idea to stay off boost :)

found that pipe and reconnected it. Boost gauge came back online. I let it warm up and gave it some beans. All the way through the first she is fine and has been fine. But when the second one kicks in and ive got the pedal down there is that throaghty alsmost rattly noise. No affect on the acceleration and she still boosts up to 1 bar.

Have I broke her?

Hi mate, seems like you have a simillar problem to one of the ones I have, I have two threads running in Tech at the mo (lucky old me) and one of them has the very same symptons as yours.

I'm now 95% sure it is the EGCV actuator, which sits under the 1st turbo, it is an actuator which moves a large'ish ceramic valve on the exhaust side of the 2nd turbo, and if this valve is stuck shut you dont get anything from the 2nd turbo, all the boost is dumped. This is what I've been told and also sounds right when I read all the tech stuff.

I only said 95% sure because my second problem has surpassed this one.

Best of luck, keep us informed.

Bob.
