Pete
I've installed face lift lights on my 94 model. The one side went fine no probs. Then I put the other side on, all soldered nicely - multi meter on the wire shows good connections etc. Decided to try them and NO sidelights worked at all. Unfortunately I then noticed that in my hurry I hadn't shielded the indicator signal, earth and green signal for sidelights which were touching. (not sure which). I obviously shielded them all and tried again. This time I realised I'd lost fogs as well. I thought maybe it was a fuse...but a visual check seems to look ok. Anyone know exactly which fuse it may be? It was getting dark and I didn't notice a guide on the fuse box cover as per some cars. Or maybe it's something else? Pete
didnt you get the lights with harnesses ? lights are usually red 10 amp fuses. I'm going to go through all the fuses with a spare later and see if that helps. The bulbs seem ok, but I'll get the multimeter on them just to check. Will report back later. Pete
All the fuses are fine. Bulbs are fine. Looks like I'm undoing my wiring! If a jobs worth doing - it's worth doing twice...
Pete
I've not undone the wiring yet as I'm pretty sure it's fine. (Not had chance) I've just noticed that the rear lights don't come on now either! (Brakes are ok, just not normal red lights) I was looking at the electrical diagrams and was thinking maybe I've killed a relay? Anyone care to confirm if this is a possibility? Thing is, when I look at the relays there's a headlight relay and fog light relay, but not much else lights related. It's obviously the whole circuit which handles the first notch on the lighting switch.
Toms Supra
Have you deffo wired it up the right way? It must be your wiring mate
martynb
Good luck if you have shorted a relay m8, I've always hated toyota lighting circuitry - in my long and dishonourable list I have fried the relays in a Carina (don't ask) and not content with this I went on to do the same with a rwd Celica a couple of years later. Last time I touched them!
Pete
I've undone the wiring and it made no difference. I've definately blown something. Fuses all look fine so it has to be a relay. The Headlight relay seems the obvious choice - but the headlights still work. !? Fog light relay is next option - but that surely just operates the fogs? Dimmer relay - don't know what this is for. Anyone care to shed any light on the best bet?
Pete
ARRRGGHH!! and HOOOORAAAAHH!! Ok - it wasn't until studying the electrical manual last night I realised there are TWO fuse boxes on the Supra. One under the bonnet (which I'd spotted) and another by your feet. DOH! One fuse exchanged = working :D Previous cars I've owned have only had one box..that's my excuse anyway.
