downimpact Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 I'm missing brake shims from my car, I intended to order some but on a track day yesterday someone was saying how they just keep more heat in the pad and therefore were better left off for track driving. Chris and Alana Posted August 23, 2009 Share Posted August 23, 2009 As far as I am aware the shims 'help' prevent squeeling and such unwanted noises but I have read on here that without them the brake pedal feels firmer, not sure about what effect they would have on heat/fade etc but I would guess not very much either way Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
