  • 3 months later...

I have an original Stillway that is going to be for sale but first I need to have it looked at by an engineer, I actually think we can slightly improve on the design.

I got one myself which is a genuine Stillway but is a whole brand new shifter with the stillway bit already fitted.

I need to find out how many people are going to be interested in the shifter kit, it has to be fitted to a new or your present shifter and trust me when you open the box it is a bit dissapointing but these things really do work well, there is no drawback to using them as a daily driver EXCEPT that there is NO reverse lockout, this is the mod I think we can do.

First to PM gets the original shifter when I am finished with it, I bought 3 one for me and one for Matt the other was for a customer, Matt does not want his as his car will prob be for sale soon.. I can get genuine ones but they will be very expensive.

I need to plead ignorance here. What does this do? Change from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th without needing the clutch? No drawbacks or increased wear to worry about? Sounds like a clever piece of kit if thats the case. I guess 5th to 6th would be possible also but not really required?

I suppose you can try and change with no clutch but that would be up to you, I never used my clutch changing up on a bike but the gearboxes are slightly different!!!:taped:

The way they work is that they have 2 gates, with the shifter knob in the 'up' position you can get all 7 gears, with the knob in the down and 'sprung' position which you do after it is in 1st then once you have tugged it back to 2nd it can then only go to 3rd, the gate will not let it go back into 1st or over to 5th, likewise another pull and it can only go into 4th not 2nd or 6th, if you needed to then change into 5th you would just hold the shifter knob up again to let it ride over the gate, these are really only for drag racing guys where you only need 4 gears or prob in my case 3, if i can find the instructions I have had them translated so it may be clearer.

I'm definately interested of the cheaper version if you can make one. So your version will have the reverse lockout? What's the estimated price?

I don't think I ever said it would be cheaper!!!! Will prob be the same sort of figure as the original stillway was, I will need to be able to sell these in the states and australia to make this worthwhile, there was a time a little while ago when these were treated like the holy grail of supra parts.

Oh crap, I must have misread something. Still interested though, but later in the spring. Reverse lockout is mandatory for me though, dont want to risk anything with the tranny.
