TLicense
I was expecting to see a thread about Le Mans pop up. For those who didn't watch any of the excellent coverage on Eurosport, you missed a truely classic race. The Peugeot's had the pace over the Audi's from the off, but anyone as anyone who's watched endurance racing will know, you've got to have consistency, reliability and a fair chunk of luck to be able to make it to the end of a 24 hour race. Incidents included, Karthikeyan dislocating his shoulder on the grid (Silly boy!), two Peugeot's crashing into each other in the pits, An Aston Martin driver being excluded for poor driving (too severe a punishment IMHO), a series of heavy crashes, and a line astern photo opportunity finish for Peugeot. Have convinced the missus that we should go next year.
grahamc
I missed the end, but saw bits of up 2 hours to go. Commentators were saying that they were waiting for peugeot to learn from audi and that this might just be the year. What happened with the poor driving? TLicense
Stuart Hall was excluded when he clipped a backmarker whilst trying to jump out the way of a car that was trying to lap him. The backmarker was punted into the barrier just in front of the pit entrance, and wrecked the rear of the car. Luckily he could continue into the pits. I'm not sure if he made it back out onto the track or not. No two ways about it, Hall was to blame. But I think it was a bit of a racing incident. He didn't mean to do it, but just misjudged how far ahead he was of the backmarker before pulling back over. It deserved a penalty, but he shouldn't have been excluded. grahamc
sounds very similar to what Hamster (in the diesel race car) did with mosler... sounds a little harsh!
SimonB
You should have heard Radio Le Mans when the Peugeot's crashed in the pitlane. They're not really Peugeot's greatest fans, I believe the word they used was "incompetent" . The team I was most impressed with was Aston Martin, 4th in a petrol car was a great finish, plus that V12 sounded absolutely brilliant as it went screaming by, just needed to be a bit louder.
