Animal
Spoof band Spinal Tap have announced a "world tour" consisting of a single June date at London's Wembley Arena. The tour marks the 25th anniversary of mockumentary film, This is Spinal Tap, which launched the band's career. The band will be backed by 1960s folk trio The Folksmen, the focus of another spoof film, 2003's A Mighty Wind. Spinal Tap's lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel commented: "If we're going to do a World tour on only one night, at least it's this world." Bassist Derek Smalls added: "one night is not enough, and it's way too much". Spinal Tap have used a variety of drummers over the years due several untimely deaths, including a spontaneous combustion on stage. The rest of the line-up for the world tour has not been announced but the group paid tribute to former members. Singer and rhythm guitarist David St Hubbins said: "This show will be dedicated to all of our drummers who have passed on, either to their reward or to middle management at Sainsbury's." Tickets for the one off Spinal Tap London gig go on-sale on 9th April at 0900. It looks like the gig is on Tuesday, 30 June 2009, but I'm not prepared to pay over £100 each for tickets. Got too much other stuff going on like hopefully driving over to Assen for the Moto GP.
Lbm
I dunno how they have the n-n-n-nerve to charge that money. If it's London though, it's just a short jog for me.
Animal
Tell me about it. Looked on Ticketmaster and prices went from £110 to nearly £160! London is a bit of a trek for me, I've missed a few good gigs recently as it would cost me too much to get down there, days off work, etc.
Mike
Did they do live shows after the film? Actually, didn't they do Donnington once?
Animal
They did do a few tours after the film iirc. They also played at 'World Aid' or some such event, plus a few tours of the states. Can't remember them playing Donnington - Bad News played there, that was fun.
Lbm
I think they played the Albert Hall too.

Animal
I think they should get Bad News as the support act.
