b_have
Hey guys, Having a pc problem and being a total IT numpty, need some help. Bought a used pc (from a member) which was working fine until I installed AVG 8.5. When I restarted it comes up with an error ox80004005 "problem is preventing windows accurately checking validation licence" The only way to get to my desktop is in safe mode. The computer didn't come with an installation CD Any ideas? Should I try to un-install AVG?

stevie_b
If its modern it might have a system restore partition on the hard disk.
Stonkin
Hi Charlie, Would it not be worth trying to remove AVG in safe mode? If you do find it needs wiping and a new OS installing, am happy to provide what you need or give you a hand mate

ClaireRZ-S
Ok heres a few simple things you can try if none of the above works. It seems that your OS isnt recognising that XP is a proper copy on your computer. Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box: regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll Then do it again with the following text: regsvr32.exe licdll.dll Launch activation manually: %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A Or you can try this Try running the validation tool http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/uk/windows/default.mspx or Run: "sfc /scannow" command Reboot
