MONKEYmark
i just converted from small terminals to uk spec large terminals. the small terminal batterys were getting harder to get hold of. bought a slim light weight 26 pound battery and some new terminals. thought i might have to extend the cables but was ok. the live side had lots of terminals for alarm and fuse box. got it on fine. i have been through a few batterys on cars. so dont think i would go with a high power battery. my battery was about £34 tungstan heavy duty, so if it goes will just put another on for the cheap price. i had some of the gold plated terminals years ago but never ended up using them. seen some of them battery terminals with led readout of the power on supra forums. Jspec Germany
Fellas, don't know if you can get these in the U.K., but it'll be the battery I'm upgrading to for my Supe. Optima Yellow-top deep cycle. See this link: http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/ I had one in my Jeep back in the states. Damn battery lasts forever. Especially good for guys that have cars that spend a lot of time in the garage where the car maybe sitting or when the weather is harsh . They're a little bit pricey, but hey.. if you can afford the myriad of costs associated with owning one of the highest performance cult cars out there, well, there you go. If you have any type of system in your ride and you're running more than one amp, these rock! Cheers.
The Hornet
Yup I use the Optima yellow top - awesome battery but more expensive than TRD3000GT stated he wants to pay.

I think you have the same Greddy 3-row as me, presumably you have the coolant expansion tank mounted up near the battery? If you do how are you going to fit a larger battery? I currently have a large size battery (580 cranking amps) but there’s no room to fit the coolant expansion tank. I've been advised to fit a smaller battery to fit the tank, but the smaller batteries have much lower amp ratings...

TRD3000GT
Im considering an Exide Maxima Deep cycle 900DC Gel battery. Looks pretty good stuff to me!
wez_p
had the exact same problem last weekend when i picked my Supra up small battery and small connectors - went to Halfords, got the calcium version of the one that's recommended for all Supras (after reading on here that many people had already used them with no problems, calcium apparently being better for people who do shorter more frequent journeys) and it came with a 3 year warranty for £59.99 large connectors to fit were a couple of quid each (make sure you get a positive & a negative as they are different, in case you didn't know) getting the old small connectors off the existing cables was a nightmare so in the end i just cut them as close as i could to the old connectors & then took the plastic shielding back a little further, but be careful to make sure that if you do this you will still be able to reach the terminals!! the final problem was the positive terminal needed to have 2 wires going to it (presumably alarm or fuse box as previously mentioned) but there was no way they would fit into the new connector hole (you can't just twist these together like speaker wire!!) so i ended up going to Maplin and getting a gold audio positive battery connector (about £4) that had 4 individual holes (2 large & 2 small) for seperating the wires going into the connector, thus providing a couple spare for an amp etc in the future hope this helps, wes
michel lane
I use a red top battery located to the boot of the car , its quite small , its the gell type used in compition cars . This will set you back around £250 with charger , and i must say its fantastic , its really powerfull. i spent 45 minutes turning the car over on and off and it was still strong ... shame the car did not start !!!
