CJ
A friend of mine recently went for another job within the large organisation she currently works for. She was offered the job subject to references and has now had the offer retracted due to a poor internal reference from her line manager. Before she decides what action (if any) to take next can anyone confirm that she has a right to see a copy of the reference provided?
Branners
oooh thats a minefield. You just cannot give a bad reference unless there are documented issues on the personnel file. I would suggest they get proper advice from Citizens advice or an employment lawyer as they should have a good case.

There are far more issues to this than I have outlined and I have told her to speak to her union representative before deciding what course of action to take next.
