Luka-P
Hello. Can someone provide me with the part number for this sensor please? Mr T can't make out a difference between the two. It's the smaller one I need. It's found on the top water outlet from the water pump. Many Thanks, Luke

Luka-P
ECT - I think it's for the transmission?
Steve
Don't think so mate. The plug below that one is for the ECU signal and that one circled controls the temperature gauge IIRC I have been known to be wrong though
Luka-P
Lol okay cheers Steve. Its a '96 JSpec TT Auto if anyone is scanning through the EPC!
RobSheffield
Did they give you any part numbers? Im looking and have narrowed it down to 83420-20040
Luka-P
Nope no part numbers. He said he found the two sensors but they're both in the same area and the same size so can't differentiate between the two. Even though they do different things and are a different size. RobSheffield
Well, if you look at that it definitely says sensor for gauge. Ill have a search on here for you and confirm the upper is gauge and not ECU.
RobSheffield
Apparently... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=1890877&postcount=3 the temp sensor for the ECU (two wires) or the one for the temp gauge (single wire)
Luka-P
Brilliant. My parts guy said it was for the transmission to allow the overdrive function when warm EDIT - The manual also calls it 'ECT'
RobSheffield
Can you let me know what page in the manual so we are looking in the same place! Or can you link me to it, or scan it in!
Luka-P
Right so it's 83420, single wire, top sensor for the water temperature gauge. 83422, two wires for the water temperature for the EFI. Sorted, cheers Rob!
