CJ
The little girl next door has had one of these for Xmas but doesnt have a usb port on her PC to charge it. I put it in mine this afternoon at about 13.30 / 14.00 and it is still flashing orange I have made sure that it is definitely been turned off and cannot think of what else might be making it take so long. How long do these things normally take to charge up?
Branners
run screaming from the building. Some i-pods require a proper driver to be installed to allow them to charge. Which basically means you will need to install i-tunes on the machine to get it to charge. I hate i-tunes with a passion.
CJ
Buggernuts! OK, I will now have to install Itunes and give that a go. Or, it may be easier to pay for her to have a USP port fitted
JustGav
Buggernuts! OK, I will now have to install Itunes and give that a go. Or, it may be easier to pay for her to have a USP port fitted If the machine, doesn't currently have USB ports, something tells me it may be an old machine... What does it run? You can buy USB chargers, which are basically a wall-wart (those silly transfers that plug in the wall), which has a USB end on the other side, but as Branners said if they need itunes or the like to active the charging cycle you may be SOL
Branners
You can buy external mains based i-pod chargers. About £10 normally. She will need I-tunes or at least the i-pod driver if she wants to get MP3s on to the thing. You can use things like WinAmp to load music across if you wish to avoid the hell that is i-tunes. Not sure what your local PC World is like (I can only imagine its like the ones in the UK, but with more hair) but they may have a charger. CJ
Just a thought. So, even if the orange light is flashing to indicate it is charging, the thing still may not be charging due to Itunes not being installed? PC World? We have a couple of small computer shops that rarely stock anything and have to order from Athens. Imagine the UK about 10 years ago and that is our level now.
