After the last few motorsport events I have been to, I am looking to upgrade my camera. I currently have a D40x body, with a fish eye and 300mm lense.

What should I be looking at moving to? I personally like the look and spec of the D300...

Should I consider one of the older but higher spec cameras? Like the D2X or similar?

Will my 2 current lenses swap to the new camera?

What are the lenses you have, are they a good spec ?

I decided to splash out on some L series lenses for my old low end canon slr body and it made a huge difference to the shots i took, i only upgraded recently as i take a lot more pictures now and need a few of the extra features that my current one couldn't give me.

What are you planning to do, will you need the extra functionality an upgraded body will give ?

Graham i'd say that the D40x should be more than enough for what you need, anything above the d40 range would be a waste of money imo as the picture quality will be no different(or far from anything dramtiacly different) the more expensive range are just easier & faster to change settings

I'd upgrade the lenses personally :)

Have decided to upgrade the memory cards. Just been reading up on the class ratings of them, so going to give that a go first. Cheapest item to replace!

Good plan :) BTW, the class rating doesn't tell the whole story, as it just specifies a minimum speed - some of the class 6 cards are a lot faster than others. Sandisk Extreme III are good, I've been using the 2GB cards in my D80 since I got it, no complaints at all :)

Figured that... I found an actual write comparison through google, which said Kingston was on top. So I am looking at these.

Does the size of the card make a difference, as I am considering the 8gb ones.
