19pjbsupra97 Posted December 7, 2008 Share Posted December 7, 2008 ok so i am rebuilding my VVTi GTE motor and when i went to take off the VVTi cam pulley i was confused and i pulled off the 5 bolts that it says not to... after hearing that i went to toyota to get a price for a new one but it came separated so there must be a way i can still use this and have it work... i need to know this for my build... please let me kno... Chris Wilson Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Under Mr Brown's government it's probably a criminal offence and monitored by the local council spies, maybe even more heinous in the US, who knows? I have undone this assembly, and put it back together on two different engines. It worked as before, in both cases, although I am lucky not to be writing this on HMP notepaper. Undoing the correct bolt, that actually holds the pulley to the camshaft, by holding or locking the OUTER of the pulley, without holding the cam itself (as you appear to be doing correctly with the adjustable spanner in the photo) can strain the mechanism though, so be careful.
