Switching oil!! advice needed!

Ok i have just found out by the previous owner, that when the car came from japan, he had it serviced and used semi synthetic oil, now i want to change to fully synthetic 10w40, but i have heard that there might be a problem with switching oils, you might get sludge build up!

how can i go about this change, should i flush the eninge first? if so should i use engine flush? or should i change with fully synthetic and then drain it all out and replace it with fully synthetic? any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

thanx

I've heard that flush is likely to do more harm than good due to it removing every bit of oil which will momentarily leave some parts totally unprotected when the engine is first started.

Don't know how true this is though, could be an insignificant amount of time that this happens for. :)
