steady_dave Posted November 3, 2008 Share Posted November 3, 2008 just purchased an N/A, live in rotherham and flew to meadowhall and back, noticed as soon as I got on the motorway on the way there that my light was on and I had no money. On the way back the needle was well below the last mark however it managed to do the road trip, get home and then back to my nearest petrol station. Guess i'm just lucky! It was rather embarrassing getting out the car and trying to push it through a bus lane into Crown street by myself. i was only 17 at the time and since then i have made a point of never running out of fuel again. While were on the subject my Dad ran out of diesel in his A3 the other week and i had to go rescue him in the supe. Union street rush hour I think that's trumphed me. Did you have much notice before it cut out? It was so quick! I had to swerve across into the left lane to get into the car park, everyone must've thought 'Wow that guy REALLY wants to go to Lidl'. In manuals you can drive economically with changing gears early in the revs to try and squeeze a few more miles out of the all-but-empty tank, but can autos do the same???
