MONKEYmark
hi been out trying to do some work on car. fitted fuel dampner bypass and only have lost the adapter nut down back of engine some where near gearbox, could not find it. got fuel filter side connected. started to take a few things off to see if i could find it. in the meantime i have took off the charcoal canister does anyone have a few pics of what pipes you can take off, got the canister out ok. underneath is a hole which must go to fuel tank, do you take that out back to tank or cap it off. what about the top 3 hoses that go into canister? looking for a few pics and any info. did a search earlier found a thread but cant find it now. syad has done it. any help would be great. thanks
Zed
I was about to post up some pics of my new silicone hose kit from envy. Anyway, heres a pic from the passenger side of the car, you can just about see the charcoal canister, the blue hoses actually make it easier to see the hose location. I thought the hole underneath the canister was just to secure the bottom part of the canister. Not sure if this is exactly what you need but hope it helps. Cheers mate. Syed Shah
http://mkiv.com/tmp/no_charcoal_canister/ That is the guide for it, though I did mine a different way. You will know the fuel pipe from the tank via smell.

LeeT
the pipe in the inner wing underneath is just the breather tube which vents underneath the engine. the pipe that goes to the fuel tank will go into a hard pipe on the bulkhead and is one of the top pipes you took off. LeeT
thanks syed shah what you done with the hole under the canister. you can leave the hole under the canister or remove it. if you follow it down it just vents under the engine bay. i rerouted the line from the fuel tank to get sucked straight back into the engine as per mkiv instructions. i also managed to remove the hard line that runs along the intake manifold when doing this. Ian C
I just blocked the hard pipe off I also junked the hard pipe on the side of the intake plenum as that's all charcoal canister related stuff. The throttle body feed is a one way valve, it can only vent, not take air in, so I took the hose off the valve and tucked it back on itself and up, behind the throttle position sensor. See piccy for what it looks like. I kept the diagnostic port bracket and nabbed another bit of the hard pipe stuff for mounting the FPR -Ian

MONKEYmark
which is the trac pump. in ians pic is it the box with black with alloy. in the other pic pic by zed it has a different part but his is a uk car?
Ian C
The J spec doesn't have a trac pump as such because it only uses the throttle plate to "control" wheelspin. The UK spec brakes the rear wheels as well, so it needs extra plumbing off the ABS system. The ABS pump is the big black and silver box with loads of metal pipes coming out of it and it's right by the charcoal canister. -Ian

MONKEYmark
What are you trying to fit in? -Iannothing. just taking a few bits out to save a bit of weight, got a fpr same as yours but not sure if its worth pitting on tempory on stock jap fuel system. Ian C
Probably not, you'd have to spend £50 to £100 on hose and fittings, some of which wouldn't translate to an aftermarket fuel rail. What about the engine lift hooks? That clunky ol' sequential system, that could go if you got your arse in gear Lightweight accessory pulleys? MVP sell the GReddy ones cheap enough. -Ian
MONKEYmark
ian took all the cannister and all hoses out that goes down under front of car. in your pic you say you blocked off the hoses next to firewall. how have you done it? i got a small hose and connected the 2 small pipes together, where do the pipes that go along the firewall go to. can they be removed if they of no use and block them at there source. i have roelocated my water injection and put a methanol bottle in the space where the charcoal canister was. thanks mark pic of what you blocked off http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13211
Ian C
Those hard pipes go all the way back to the fuel tank, it'd be a mega PITA to hoik them out for no real gain... I blocked it off with a hose, a bolt, and a jubilee clip, and the hose goes through 180deg so I tucked it into the wiring loom brakcet, hiding it away -Ian
b_have
Hey Mark, that is scary, i just spent the last few nights stripping out the charcoal junk box and fitted a methanol tank there also! b_have
Removed/blocked all pipes except fuel tank breather. Connected that to the induction pipe just post airfilter. I use 90% meth (just a splash of water to lessen the fire hazzard!)
