Thorin
http://www.24dash.com/news/communities/2008-10-15-For-sale-Secret-network-of-tunnels-100ft-under-London http://www.24dash.com/media/image/2008/10/15/8041/380_Image_PA_kingsway_tunnel.jpg http://www.24dash.com/media/image/2008/10/16/8070/380_Image_PA_kingsway_tunnels2.jpg The Kingsway Tunnels were built in 1940 as deep air-raid shelters and have since been used as a "reserve war room", public record library and the telephone exchange which connected the Cold War hotline between the presidents of the US and USSR. The Post Office took over the tunnels after the Second World War, and now its successor, BT, is putting them up for sale. With 77,000 square feet of space under the centre of the capital up for grabs, offers around the £5 million mark are expected. Access to the mile-long system of horizontal and vertical shafts is through unmarked doors in the street on High Holborn, and the site is fully equipped with electricity, water supply and ventilation equipment - making it the perfect place to hole up and hide from 007, though aspiring Blofelds will have to provide their own white cat. The Public Record Office used the tunnels for a while to store 400 tons of secret documents, before the complex was turned into a "trunk exchange" to connect long distance telephone calls in the days before the subscriber trunk dialling (STD) code. It was built to hold 8,000 people during air raids, and in its days as an exchange housed around 80 workers, who enjoyed a canteen and recreation room - complete with snooker table. I've always wanted my own underground lair. I've also always wanted the £5 million it's expected to go for.

bolarbag
Its cool in concept, but not sure if you would be happy after spending 5million quid for a hangout with Splinter and his crew for neighbours
AndrewOW
Not bad, but I'd prefer the underground lair of Lex Luther in the original Superman film, personally. Its also got a swimming pool, don't you know

supersupra3
I laid vinyl floors in those tunnel's many years ago, the access i used was in an office just off trafalgar square, go into this office of full people working away, in the corner was what looked like a cupboard door, inside was two armed guards and a lift to take you down to the tunnels. The hot line phones were marked kremlin, white house etc. great stuff. At the end of one of the tunnels was another with small railway track. Thorin
Would make a funky nightclub, I'm sure thats what it'll be bought for. Gaz. I would have thought the need for fire exits etc. might go against it being used for that. (edit: damn Miko for beating me to it) Anyway, it's my underground lair and I don't want sweaty gurning clubbers in it.
