Symptoms of CAS Problems?

Bad crank sensor will usually cause a severe missfire/backfire or no start and usually throws a 12/13 combination code. Guess you might be experiencing the infant stages of the sensor going bad. Maybe worth replacing to rule it out, or giving the face of it a clean in case its crudded up? i would probably look at the cam sensors aswell to rule them out.

I think there are factory specs for free air gapping but not rotational movement, but any significant movement in the trigger wheel would most definately cause problems.

I can see a theory where higher RPM/load may be 'holding' the trigger wheel in place better than low Rpm's if thats what you mean Tricky.

If in doubt spot weld the trigger wheel to the gear and grind back the welds.

Does anyone have any info to hand on the CAS sensor? Anything out of the manual? I do not have mine at home. Do we know if it is a hall effect device of a pick off coil type? The latter needs rotation to induce a changing current and produce a reading. A hall effect can read teeth statically (if that makes sense).

A failing pick off coil could suffer low speed issues.
