AMG
Been a bit bored and looking through ebay, found a turbo kit. Anybody got any opinions on it? Good? Bad? etc. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7959457424&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
Guest spoolin turbo
I have heard that the manifolds and the wastegates are good. As for the turbos they are not good, not sure how reliable the intercooler is and i wouldnt trust their fittament. If you are looking to go single let me know. thanks
Clarkey
I'd be inclined to go with abit of kit that's tried/tested & trustworthy. The budget BL single from Vortex.
Getrag
Wont that manifold need a few more screws than that....
adi2009
no clue about the turbo, but some people who run the SSautochrome turbo kit for the supra say that it works fine. i bought an intercooler from them and i am happy with it.

Getrag
...then all you need is injectors, plugs, management, clutch, fitting, mapping. Think I'll start a piggy-bank
GeordieSteve
I say good. FMIC is VERY good. I had this kit not long ago
MONKEYmark
...then all you need is injectors, plugs, management, clutch, fitting, mapping. Think I'll start a piggy-bank only looks a small turbo, probably can run it on 550cc injectors. dont think you can go wrong for money, a fmic will cost more than that over here. AMG
Yeah, was impressed with the price more than anything. If only i could afford to try it i could be tempted. Will save to start saving my pennies i think. Can anybody tell, or know, what size turbo that is?
mr keef
Its easy for people here in the uk to knock stuff from the usa,but i say just because its cheaper doesnt mean its bad quality,IMHO it just shows how us in the uk have our eyes taken out big time.I know of many people who always buy from the usa for this reason. D3xt3r
Yeah but many people dont see the big shipping costs, import duty 10% and 17,5% tax on the goods. And if anything goes wrong you are in big problems most of the time... You always get what you pay for... Either is it better quality or better service... And if anything goes wrong you are in big problems most of the time... You always get what you pay for... Either is it better quality or better service... I disagree. Performance parts in the UK are a rip off in my opinion, although things have improved massively in the last year or so. I ordered a high performance clutch last spring from the US for my MR2 and fitted it shortly before Ten of The Best. I ran it in properly per manufacturers instructions. Then I get to TOTB and it slipped on nitrous. I emailed my contact in the US and his attitude "No problem, warranty replacement on the way". I've had friends deal with so called reputable UK tuning / performance parts suppliers and hear "You must've fitted it incorrectly" when they've had an issue. You dont always get what you pay for, such as forged pistons bought off the shelf are £500+VAT+delivery for my car in the Uk when I can buy the exact same pistons from the UK for $500+shipping and taxes and have them in 2 weeks. With the current exchange rates I personally think anyone would be mad not to buy parts from the US. I agree in part, you buy cheap stuff expect budget results. But what infuriates me is when the likes of Aquamist sells a UK water injection product cheaper in the US through their dealers than they do here. I challenge anyone to show me how we're getting what we pay for in that kind of situation. (Note, I've not checked prices recently, Aquamist WI may've changed their pricing structure)

I disagree 100% there are big savings to be made,a good freind of mine builds choppers and works on a lot of rally cars etc, there is'nt much that he will buy in this country, always goes to the usa,he makes big savings. Why pay more for the same item when you can get it elsewhere cheaper. cashpoint
Price looks good but the pipe run for the FMIC is way to short, but that may be cause the guy couldn't see a point in getting it all out, just to have to put it all away again. As for buying from the US, all the parts for my car with the exception of the hybrid turbos have come from the States. FMIC i saveed £200 for a Greddy 3 row, Wheels i saved a massive £800, Clutch and fly wheel was another £400 saving and this is delivered to my door. I've seen now that picking up from LHR halfs the shipping cost (i'm 25 mins from LHR), so more savings there.
Supra ST Myster
are the intercoolers from him a good fit then? do you need to make up some pipes to go with it for it to fit the supra?
