In the rebuild Im at the stage where the crankshaft needs to come out. The gear that drives the belt at the front needs to be removed. Can this be done with a gear puller or is a specific tool needed. If so, does anyone have a drawing for it so I can knock one out at work today Cheers! Chris Wilson Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Usually just heating it with a hot air gun will expand it enough to pull off by hand. DO NOT damage or loosen the crank trigger star wheel that's very poorly attached to it. I TIG weld them on when I do an engine build and turn the weld down in the lathe. Paul Whiffin Posted September 9, 2008 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Its worth putting new pulleys on, we're seeing a few now where the crank sensor pickup washer comes loose which can cause some damage to your engine, not worth messing around for £40 approx.
