Business Software Packages

Wez

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I know there are a few people on here with there own businesses, just wondering what you use for keeping track of customer files, invoicing etc.

Ideally a single package that does it all would be good.

As it stands at the moment I have to wait for the accountant to tell me which invoices havent been paid etc.

I was thinking something like quickbooks.

someone will say sage and someone will say quickbooks etc etc...

im no accountant but in my experience sage is a very good package and industry standard but not very good for... errrrm 'hiding' things...:sly:

quickbooks does it all also and it allows you to edit things without leaving a trace path.... can be very useful if you just simply make a mistake and you dont have to input several other things to show where the error has gone.

just my limited knowlege and use of them...

I use Sage here, though only its most simple function as I'm only working as an IT contractor. Quickbooks is a bit generic and basic tbh.

How many transctions are you talking about p/m Wez? Are they VAT accountable and do you need to include expenses tracking?

Low amount of transaction at the moment but hopefully they will increases if I put the effort in.

VAT needs to be calculated and things like mileage and hours worked etc would be good.

Its for a VAT registered Ltd company.

We were looking at SimpleStart but Pro has extra features including merchant account integration which looks good.

I didnt realise you could get a merchant account for as little as £15 a month, I am sure when I looked into them a couple of years ago it was much much more.

Yeah, QB merchant integration is supposed to be very good however for us, since most of our transactions are card charges we get a much better rate from our bank than we were offered from QB.

Best Regards,

That sounds good.

I know you can also have your Quickbooks "hosted" by Intuit so you can access it anywhere with a net connection.

Best Regards,
