ADL Mark
Hi all, Got an idea for a little DIY garden irrigation system to help muym Mum out in the garden with the watering (save her struggling with watering cans or hosepipes).. Now I know roughly what I want, but am a little bit confused by the different types of fittings and what does what and goes with what? Basically I need - 30m ~25mm plastic pipe 35m 20mm hosepipe 15x 25x25x20mm 'tees' 1x 25x25x25mm 'tee' 2x 25mm end caps 1x 25mm tap to fit to the above for filling watering cans etc. Anybody advise on what best to use, and where cheapest to get it from? It really doesn't have to be fancy, just cheap and functional. I'll be drilling holes in half of it anyway, to make it water the garden Cheers! Jamesy W
If you mean 22mm instead of 25mm I'll have most of this lying in the van.
ADL Mark
22mm should be fine, as long as I can connect normal hosepipe on to one end and at various points along the pipe? The basic idea is to run the solid plastic pipe around the vegetable patch and then have hose coming off at 15 points with lots of holes drilled in the hose so it saturates the soil. Should be a more efficient way of watering the plants and better for them not getting the leaves soaked. Apparently. Cheers Jamesy
Digsy
You can buy trickle hoses ready made, I'm sure. Not sure how the price would compare to a DIY system. You can also buy timer valves that fit onto your tap to turn them on and off at pre set times.
Jamesy W
I think your talking about 22mm mate, I'm sure it's either 22mm or 28mm but I can't be certain..... although I'm sure I have never came across 25mm. I have two coils on Ebay just now. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150261903096&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=005 I have all the T pieces and the 2 end caps as well. All speedfit too so saves a lot of time and hastle. I'll make sure I have all 15 T pieces tomorrow. For the sake of club spirit and all that jazz I'll do you the fittings free
ADL Mark
Digsy, had a look at some of them and it starts to get a bit expensive with all the fancy bits and bobs. This way should be a lot cheaper and will give me something to do for an afternoon Cheers Jamesy, the 25mm I got from some plastic plumbing bits and connectors I came across on Screwfix. Might be completely the wrong thing though, like I said I'm not totally sure what I'm doing Let me know if you have all the bits and I'll sort something out, cheers!
