Daston
Hey guys Upgraded my g/f's PC last night from 2 7800GT's to a single 8800GT, however after installing the new drivers her monitor seems a little fuzzy in windows especially when viewing text. I have tried different refresh rates and some make it less pronouced but it is still there. Any ideas??
monkey3
try this: Go to "Control Panel". Double click the "Display" icon. Go to the "Appearance" tab. Click the "Effects" button. Check off "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and select "ClearType" in the box.

monkey3
lol I just recall seeing a few posts from you recently about your g/f's pc... dual graphics cards etc. I can't keep up with the advances money wise. Every time I upgrade my pc I regret not waiting a few more months. ah well, such is life. I take it that worked though.

robin
Check you are running the native resolution of the monitor. Also maybe try a different VGA lead or better yet get it onto a DVI one... if it isn't already?

monkey3
Have you got another lead you can try? Also, was that ClearType box unticked the next time you looked?
Daston
Have you got another lead you can try? Also, was that ClearType box unticked the next time you looked? box still unticked. ok I am getting somewhere. Her monitor will only go up to 60hz (as its a TV as well) and at that setting its perfect (fuzzy wise) However at 1440x900 it leaves around 1 inch of the screen unusable. I have tried using the nvidia control panel to move the screen over but it seems the PC thinks this border is the end of the screen. Now on her Motherboard I had to attach another molex cable to the actual board to power her SLI, now she dosnt have SLI could this extra juice be causing problems? monkey3
It shouldn't make any difference. I'm not using sli, but I've plugged in all the power connectors I can. The way I see it is the more the better, you wont be able to give the card too much, but you can give it too little. Normally an lcd will do the resize itself. Does it definately support 1440x900 at 60hz? Is there any way you can adjust the size on the screen itself?
