Black under bonnet stuff

It also has plastic fixings that are designed to release (melt) in the event of fire, thus creating a fire blanket.

(maybe a load of bollox, but remember reading that somewhere :))

 

thats right as well as noise reduction...I took mine out on mine, partly becuase of the custom bonnet ive made up

Thanks for the replies guy's :) I take it the heat from the engine wont have an effect on the paint on the bonnet over time if removed then? Does it also make a considerable difference to the amount of noise you can hear from the engine when removed?

 

It's a good idea about the fire blanket but the plastic push tag things that keep it on have caused the horrible yellow material to show around some of them, apart from that it's just a little faded. So I can either remove it and have no fire protection and an unpainted section of bonnet (why do they do that anyway, why not just paint the whole thing :search: ) or try a littlt black paint on the horrible exposed yellow stuff to try tidy it up :confused: mmmmm, decisions. . . .

you can here more from the engine especially with the windows down. I haven't noticed any paint issues on the bonnet and its been off for over a year
