Sharpie
When the car is hot and being used the coolant in the overflow bottle increases by volume due to pressure. When the car cools down, the coolant returns to the rad under pressure = volume in overflow bottle is reduced. Is this Correct ?

Chris Wilson
It returns under vacuum, but otherwise correct. It allows coolant expansion without coolant loss.
