I have a N/A 93 J-spec Supra. I will be boosting it in a few months via a PHR Stage 2 kit off of MVPmotorsports.com.

The kit comes with tons of goodies:

Extreme 2000 Black Heat Coated PHR Cast-steel Exhaust Manifold

Garrett GT60 Turbocharger with Polished Compressor Housing

ITS ProGate External 50mm Wastegate

Stainless Steel Oil Inlet and Drain Lines

Speed Density Based Fuel Computer (PHR MAP ECU) to Provide Extended Fuel Mapping.

My question is at what point do i need to replace/upgrade the internals of the motor? IE Piston rods, pistons, sleeves, ect...

i'm new to the 2JZ engine. i know on the B18 motor i had in my Integra after 12 to 14psi you needed to upgrade such parts if you wanted a engine you weren't worried about blowing.

how strong is the 2JZ and when do i need to worry about upgrading the bottom and top end?

Hmm ... suppose. In that case, it's just a case of seeing how far it can be pushed. This is the area where the mapper earns his money... Let's just hope the wastegate spring isn't set too high! Probably be fine mate.

Automatic transmission owners keep in mind that the transmission will need to be upgraded to handle the added power, and we recommend the installation of an external transmission cooler and higher stall torque converter to make the most use of the added horsepower. Five speed manual transmission owners will need to purchase an aftermarket clutch kit capable of handling 450+ horsepower. Available for the 1993-1997 model Non-Turbo Supra only.

550 RWHP on 440 injectors, I dont think so, not for very long anyway

660cc's I'd say for 550whp. I've read somewhere that it's around 1.2cc per whp. Let me see if I can dig that up.

 

You could eek the base fuel pressure up, but I'd not fancy pushing too far

 

I dont really think this kit makes 550 RWHP anyway to be honest but thats another story

 

As above you will need bigger injectors and a proper way of controlling the fuel set up, I would consider selling the NA and getting a TT and BPU, you will make in excess of 400 BHP FWHP and the options to go single are easier than an NA-T

as for the 550whp, just a friendly reminder we are talking about the legendairy Garrett GT60 turbocharger.

as for selling my Supra well, lets just say that's not an option.

If the Acura Integra (which i know a lot more about) can make 500hp to the crank on 20 pounds of boost with 91 octane pump gas. Then i just do not see why a 2JZ can't make 550whp on 22 pounds of boost shoved down it's throat by a GT60. Then again i'm new to Supra's so i could be wrong as far as my thoughts about the car is concerned...?

Im not familiar with that turbo?! but the 2JZ GE can easily make that rwhp reliably.

especially on a US dynojet :D

As mentioned internals will be fine (crank and con rods same as a TT) you will however need to lower the compression as mentioned ideally by using TT pistons but a headgasket change will suffice. I think the 3.0mm is a bit of a overkill, boostlogic do a 2.5mm Cometic item which lowers the compression to 8.5:1.

 

Injector wise go with Boostlogics Precision brand I think they are 650 or 680cc.

 

It sounds like you are doing things properly so in my experience I would ditch the MAP and go for the AEM ECU.

 

All in all I would go for the stage 1 kit and customise it yourself to suit, Have you considered the Boostlogic stage 1 kit?
