I don't have a great budget at the moment, so was just thinking about the above coilovers,

what i'd like to know is;

1 are they a good setup?

2 What is the depth that it could lower the car to?

3 im thinking of 19's will this setup be fine?

cheers guys!

any other recomendations will be appreciated.

I've just stuck yellow Bilsteins on my car and its revolutionised the way it drives.

I've got to say, in fairness, that the old front shocks were knackered, but even so the difference is phenomenal.

I'm not a lover of lowering cars willy nilly, or sticking larger sized wheels on to make it look better, it usually plays havoc with the handling. Toyota didn't spend 100s of hours and 1000s of pounds in R&D on the suspension setup for it to be bettered with an unknown set of wheels and a random amount of lowering.

My vote would be for the above Bilsteins and a decent set of 17s with the correct offset.

Im slightly confused, so these coilovers can only adjust the height of the car by 25mm, so if i want it to be lower i would be better off getting a set of 40mm springs with a set of new dampers??

i thought one of the advantages of coilovers was that you could lower the car more, than you would be able to with lowering springs??

best thing to do is lower the car by as much as poss maybe 60-70 mm I think its called 'slammin it' - you could then 'slam it' on a blingin set of '20s' and then when you go cruzin wit da girleez you will able to slam it into a lamp post or garden wall when you try to go around a corner...

MAX POWER MAX POWER MAX POWER :werd:

25-40mm is the range of height reduction the kit will offer - and thats more than enough.

I have the Tein Super Street on my GTR and its great, wouldn't want anything harder on UK roads, but capable of being made hard for a track day - and if you fit an EDFC like I have you can change the damping force on the move from the comfort of your drivers seat - superb :D

Don't forget they spend all this time trying to derive a setup thats suits all types of driving.

The handling of my car with TEIN's and 18's is better than with the stock GZ set-up. You do lose some of the ride comfort though. Its your choice at the end of the day.

19's apparently do start to effect the performance of the cars handling though, regrdless of suspension. I think 18's are regarded as the maximum if you are going to upgrade your wheels. Just make sure you get a nice low tyre profile :)

I have these on my car and it has been lowered with them. I can assure you, you wont need/want it lower, especially if you have an aftermarket bumper or exhaust.

The handling is awesome though, the car stays flat as a pancake in the bends and turns very sharp.

I got some to replace the stock yellow Bilsteins and they have made a massive difference.

I am running stock 16"s and had no probs so far with those so 19's should be fine.

Im running the standard UK SOFT setup on 19's and have been thinking about Upgrading? if thats the right word.

My car handles well, or should i say well within my abilities and is very comfortable.

I dont want to be jarred every time i take the car on on anything less than perfect roads, cos there are'nt many round here.

Ive been in a few cars that have been lowered and "improved"? and i found them very skittish and un-nerving when taking corners, ive also had the same people in mine who commented that they would never approach corners at the speed i did even though i wasnt pushing it.

So my question is, where does the lowering / stiffening start to become a minus point to the cars day to day performance, bearing in mind 99% are used for road driving and not track and those that drag race them would benefit from a softer setup anyway.

Sorry for the blurb but am interested in getting an unbiased opinion?

Geeza, if you are happy with the handling with your current set-up I wouldn't bother with lowering it and spending money up upgraded shocks.

I can accept the ride quality with mine, and I only really tolerate it because when I do have a play it feels more stable through the corner. However, this is about 2% of the time I am in the car.

The other reason I like it is beacuse I think the car looks much better squatted over my 18" split rims. Having run the standard set up for a while, if it wasn't for the looks obtained when lowering the car I wouldn't have bothered.

I wouldn't have even had the shocks put on my car if they hadn't come with my other Supra. I just paid to swap them over.

Save your money, buy some bling :)

More bling on order, however i would like to lower the car a little but i dont want to compromise what i think is excellent ride quality for a sports car on big wheels.

I don't know if the yellow Bilsteins enable you to lower the car at all, but if they do that would be my choice as they were a standard part for the Supra anyway.

Most people seem pretty happy with CW's set-up. If I was out to buy some shocks/springs/both he would be my first point of call.

All just IMHO. ;)

i had my setup change to complete koni adjustables with whiteline springs and the car made a huge handling difference , but i also changes all the bushes and anti rollbars aswell. The springs have the same poundage as the HKS 2 coilovers but the koni only has 4 settings , i have it on 3 at the moment , which is comfortable yet hard . It has lowered the car alot aswell . some people may have had problems in the past with customer service with whiteline , but i am very happy with the setup and would recommend it to anyone ... only one problem at the moment , i put a new body kit on the car and the front side skirts has a clearance of only 2 inches :conf: .... so i think i would have to either get 19inch wheels or higher springs , but it looks good at the moment ..... or chop the part that is sticking out , so it does not catch......

My current import NA came with TEIN drive master HA coilovers and I must say it handles far better than a previously owned stock NA aerotop. The ride is a little harsher, however each strut has a 16 point adjustment on the top it for ride comfort or performance. I will probably get the EDFC fitted at some point.

Yeah that's true Steve, and if I was going to build a trackday car, I may well have looked into different suspension and geometry.

My car is actually a lot more comfortable with the harder Bilsteins on it. Its not rolling around like a boat anymore and speed humps can be traversed without the front of the car bouncing madly afterwards.

Being that my car spends 99.9% of its time on the road, (the .1% is for when I get it wrong :)) I think that the "sport option" offered by the manufacturer is a good foolproof choice.

I really would have liked CW's setup, but I couldn't come close to justifying the extra costs for a car that seems to spend most of its life in traffic at the moment :(

The HA's were remowned for being harsh - these new boys are excellent - and without meaning to dis the stock set-up (or upgraded stock) they handling is soooo much better with coilovers!
