id still use one for 720, i do on mine looks loads better than a stretched 1024 image

Bare in mind though if you do use a DVI to HDMI lead your graphics card must support HDCP

Ill ask you what software you are running there when I get to the bottom of all this ;) Looks awesome!

I have an 8800GT and apparently it does support HDCP :)

Dont forget a bluray drive also :) they are becoming very cheap. OEM ones are something like 75-85 quid now

Thats my next purchase..

The software is opensourse Media Portal with the Core skin, i think that's what Gav uses also?

Mine specifically said on the package that its a 2way cable, so i think there maybe two types

It does state its a 'Dual Link' cable. Thinking about it, why would you send a HDMI signal to a computer video card? Surely you only ever send data from the DVI to the HDMI?

I appreciate your time and effort into this guys, im learning alot :)

Im going to order something tonight, just in time for the weekend :D

Not just yet for me. My HD content will always come from online, so wont be buying a drive just yet. Perhaps in 6 months time when I run out of storage space :)

Digital - either a coax or SPDIF socket (or both) on the soundcard, and the same on the amp. ;)

which one? i have the elite pro with external amp, i run my pc off a coaxial S/PDIF cable which goes into the elite pro amp and for when in linux i use the 3 phono cable parte and for the 360 i use a optical link, thats all running into a 5.1 logitech z5550 which has the inputs for them, as for you tv does it have a hdmi slot i run from my pc to a projector ( infocus ln72) which is via a dvi to Hdmi or you can get dvi out to comps or dvi to dvi if your tv has it?

Indeed MediaPortal is still my firm favourite.. playing with the codec aspect but I'm just being OTT with the nitty gritty codec settings.

Hence the reason I have plenty of disk space and no blueray/hd-dvd drive....:)

I've got a Marantz AV amp with 4 digi inputs and half a dozen or so analogue ones. Does DTS, Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround etc. My Ebay bargain of the year at only £90. :)
