a mate of mine has braking problems with his supra.

slowing down isnt a problem but when he's almost at a stop the abs seems to kick in and the pedel will judder.

He has changed the discs and pads but it has made no difference at all.

any ideas.

mine didnt store a code either and it was the abs ring on the drive shaft..replaced the ring now its fine..mind you the rings cant be bought seperate,he can pull the abs fuse to stop the judder until he gets it sorted.

Also heard of this happening when mechanics unwittingly damage the ring.

Hope it's sorted soon. :)

Ill pull the fuse for him and inspect the ring.

is there any tell tale signs to look for apart from damage.

mine looked rusty and corroded....its like andy said if someone has been working there like changing the bearing or something they can often damage it.

Cheers Keef.

I'll check it out for him.

So he will have to buy a drive shaft with the ring attatched if its damaged.

yea think so mate,i got a second hand one off here but just used the ring,so still got the shaft,if it is the ring you might be able to sort it with a clean up.

I beleive the error codes (

if a abs sensor is gone or ring then it wont store a code because it thinks there is no problem and the wheel has stopped turning hence why its juddering the pedal. and before people say driveshaft how do you no its the rear?!

sensors will need to be checked with a multimeter, can talk you thro this is you want?

Just a thought but he is getting the normal ABS light when he turns the ignition on isn't he ?

the light will be normal because the abs doesnt no theres a problem and it obviously thinks its skidding when comming to a stop hence why the abs is kicking in
