DamanC
Just wanting to know what peoples opinions of them are and that im not missing out on anything. I currently have a linksys wrt54GL that im running the latest version of tomato on which I am very impressed with. Anyone use anything else? openWRT, hyperWRT, sveasoft? Pete
I bought one of these the other day http://www.buffalo-technology.com/products/wireless/wireless-g-mimo-performance/wireless-g-mimo-performance-router-with-dd-wrt/ Very cool what you can do with it with various plugins. I'm going to use it in the villa for pay on demand wireless internet access for the neighbourhood.
DamanC
Good stuff, DDWRT is the one im interested in, ranks up the top with the newly developed tomato. How do you find it, or have you not had the chance to have real play?
Pete
Not had a real play. At the moment I'm just using it as a test bed plugged into my normal router, so I'm natting twice at the moment. It seems to offer any feature you'd want, and if it doesn't then there's a plug in to do it.
JustGav
Used the sveasoft a while back, really good.... Gave up using it though and eventually got a decent cisco AP.
colsoop
I recently added dd wrt (v23 sp1) to my linksys. Lots of features that were otherwise not available. Shame my model of router has the lower amount of memory and can't be upgraded as well.
MrRalphMan
How can you tell what version has the greater memory? What's the difference between the wrt54GL and the wrt54G?
colsoop
How can you tell what version has the greater memory? What's the difference between the wrt54GL and the wrt54G? I don't have the info anymore, try a search for linksys firmware memory upgrade it should give a compatibility list. Mine (wrt54g v5) is not in it. DamanC
How can you tell what version has the greater memory? What's the difference between the wrt54GL and the wrt54G? Paul, loads of info here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G Had a play with DD-WRT last night, reverted back to Tomato as I got fed up with the constant reboots. Couple of extra features with DD-WRT over Tomato thou, some missing thou. Sveasoft is no longer free, there seems to be a witch hunt out for them at the mo! OpenWRT next
Pete
What I liked about the Buffalo router I bought is that DD-WRT is its official firmware as shipped.
