Oil feed and drain angle??

Evening all.

 

On a single turbo, does the angle of the oil feed and drain matter to a certain degree and if not perfectly straight can it damage the turbo??

 

Is this sort of angle "OK":

the more straight up and down the better....but its truely hard to say whether that will cause bearing wear quicker or not. Do you not have enough room to clock it a bit more so the oil flows up and down?

Thanks for the resonse Kyle, no the oil drain flange is in the way of the turbo t3 flange to manifold :(

 

I could slightly grind the drain flange down............

The oil drain flange itself or the big hose fitting? I dont really think the slight angle will bother it....but ideally up and down is best.

The actual pipe fitting i could trim down as it is quite long on these drain flanges i have got. That way the pipe could JUST bend past the manifold. There isnt a massive angle, just worried that there is going to be oil collecting in the turbo thats all.

A.lways fit the oil lines in a vertical position. If the exit and feed are away from vertical, hot oil can pool in the housing, which should be avoided.

Thanks Terminator, i will try and get it as vertical as possible, but its not going to be perfect unfortunately :(
