jevansio
My mate has just had an insurance quote for a Nurburgring trip we're going on, £750 a day with a £10k excess!!!! Now he's planning on buying a cheap Cossie purely to go in. Do you guys who go just forget insurance or pay it?
SteveR
Sorry mate I've got your PM and was (re-)looking into insurance just for the 'Ring... I don't bother getting additional, in fact I'd be surprised if more than the very, very occasional person did - as yuo've found they come with hefty premiums, silly excess and usually, quite a low max payout too. Check your insurance covers you for driving abroad (generally) and you will meet the legal requirement, so are ok to drive on the 'Ring, but check it in detail to see if it mentions the 'Ring in the exclusions - not many, but some policies do - in which case you won't have fully comp cover. Technically speaking the track IS a one-way public toll road when it's open to the public, it's governed by German traffic laws and people are prosecuted by teh police for dangerous driving, so it's tricky for insurers to justify any exclusion. Just don't time your laps, 'race' anyone or mention you were at the 'Ring if you are unlucky enough to have any incident. It's just a normal road. Cheers Steve, I'm going to go ahead with the Supra, not sure if I'll go ahead with the insurance myself (it was £240 for me, £2400 excess). My mate defo isn't taking his 911 now, even if he takes it steady, there's no guarantee everyone else is Thanks for the info though
