miko_supra
i constantly hear people having issues with accidents and other drivers saying they weren't at fault when they clearly were etc... so i was wondering if anyone or knows anyone who have a small camera in the front or rear (possibly both) of their car. how easy is this to do and what's the cost? bigcol
The nice police man who nabbed me had a nice camera in the front:D seriously think its a bit of a grey area the same as cctv it comes under public space and is basically illeagle due to data protection etc etc etc especially if it is recording because by law if you are recording something (even cctv in a shop) anyone who may have been captured on camera has the right to a copy of it etc etc, its just such a crappy grey area, i just keep a disposable in the glove box (well the mrs does now)
Scott
I have a computer in my car so i guess if you have a similar setup you can easily hook up a couple of webcams to do some recording off of. Set up the recording automatically and everytime you start the OS up you could have it overwrite the previous file. Scott =op
miko_supra
i think it would need a recorder which wiped out memory every 5 minutes or so.
Lukeyboy2k
I was wondering the very same thing last week after having two very near misses within a couple of days (obviously I was completely in the right on both occasions ). I reckon you could set it up for a few hundred quid quite easily: https://sslrelay.com/www.fastfilmsshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=1547a60bafd0179/shopdata/index.shopscript I'm not entirely sure if this footage would be useable in an insurance claim or court appearance though?? Scott
Nah wouldn't need to do anything. You can set up your PC to start recording as soon as it boots up. My pc boots up automatically as soon as i start the car. Of course you would have 30 seconds with no recording while it booted up but i wouldn't really see that as an issue. Scott
thats pretty cool, dont know if i would have a clue where to start in setting that up though. It wouldn't really be difficult. The hardest part is getting a carputer setup tbh. If you get someone to install a carputer the automated thing can be done via the "startup" menu. Sparky
You can get these setups for taxi drivers. but instead of putting th camera in the cab, have it facing out through the window. They cost around £300 for a good one though!
