Ancillary belt tensioner

Ive removed my aircon pump from the system. When i went to fit the anc belt today i came across a problem. I pushed belt tensioner back and fitted the belt. The belt was a very tight fit so no slack. When a released the tensioner it made its way up and rested against the powersteering pump. When i say resting, it is separated from it by the belt itself.

Is this ok? Or should i remove the tensioner altogether and just run it without and tighten from the alternator?

thanks in advance.:)

WHAT??? Should you remove the tensioner??? Step away from the vehicle my friend.

Seriously, you may have looped the belt wrong, do a search, theres a diagram of how it should look.

When you removed the pump, did you leave the pulley somehow, or are you expecting the tensioner to take up the slack from a missing pulley? You will need a shorter belt, search again for AC pump removal. Some guys have done this with a new belt.
