gaz1
a mate of mine said to me, "you know you can claim tax rebates on travel cost to work" so i say i get paid from my firm for travel expenses, and he says "it does not matter" anyway he gave me a number of an accountant, so i ring her up and went through every thing with her, and she said yes you should get something back and you can claim upto 6 years back, the only thing was you could not be on the same job for over 2 years, anyway i could claim for 4 of the 6 years, she sent me tax returns, i filled them in, then got a letter from the tax man saying i had overpaid by £5469 and they will send a cheque to my accountant:D they also almost doubled my tax code too:D i recieved my cheque from the accountant for £4159, which is cool, but £1300 for the accountant to pass on my returns too the taxman:rolleyes: anyway a heads up to some of you guys, as i would have lost this if not for my mate, YOU GET SOD ALL IF YOU DON,T TRY

bluecoup
we get paid 25p per mile for travel during work this does not mean you get paid for travel to work and travel home, only stuff you do for work, we claim the diffrence 15p per mile back, dont sound much but it adds up over a year, you should also be able to claim to wash your uniform if the company provides you with one
