Headlight refurb ring colour...cant decide!!!

I have finally got around to spending some time on refurbing my headlights and fitting the group buy clear lenses.

 

I spent ages spraying silver (look a bit grey now though ) then masking up the rings to spray the rest matt black. Only problem i have now is i am not sure if i like them silver or black. See the below pics and tell me what you think. Basically i have left one still masked up so its not perfect but you get the idea.

 

Opinions please!!! (pics with and without lenses, just incase it helps!?)

Not sure on the grey (right) ones, prefer the black (left), although I prefer the facelift chrome over that

I thought the facelifts were just black, atleast those that i have seen have been!? I would have left the rings chrome but they were damp and rusted

Thats kinda what i have been thinking. Its not grey though, atleast its not supposed to be! Says! Aluminium on the can, and looked it when it was wet.

Nice, thats what i wanted but the original chrome was stuffed. Oh well...'back to black' i think.

There must be a way of getting a chrome finish, do the rings come out?

 

Is there such a thing as silver leaf paint (like gold leaf paint)?

Doesn't plasticoat do a chrome look spray maybe you could try that to get the rings back .

Nope the rings dont come out...i will have a look about (thanks for the heads up Matt) but i am starting to lose interest in this. I am an engine man not bodywork/paint

 

Girlfriend works at B&Q so will have a look tomorrow...discounted tested of course

Also IMHO, black looks stealth, but too much black looks wrong, it's good to have highlights in whatever colour you choose,

what i thought so when i got my lights done i got the black facelift with just the centre ring chrome and the fog chrome ring done black, i love it as ive never seen it before

All facelift headlights have dark grey inner housing and chrome rings around the lights, pics here:

I don't like the silver, I'd definitely paint them black or get the rings chrome vacuum plated.
