Guest Welshjeff
Hi I've got the Supra bug and will be looking to buy my first shortly. I've always driven high performance cars and know the best place to get advice is from other owners, so here i am! I've read / researched them already but wonder if there is there a link or useful www that describes the differences between the models, equipment, bodystyles etc? I def want a manual (so RZ or RZ-S) and know UK manuals are as rare as hens teeth. What should i look out for and what advice can you guys give me. My budget is £9-£12k. Cheers all
Scooter
Hello The technical section has a good FAQ section. What to look for when buying, facelift differences (96 on so borderline getting a manual within budget) auto to manual box comparison etc etc BTW there are some GZ manuals too. some great info here, especially chassis plate meaning etc
JustGav
My only advice, don't say no to an auto till you have driven it... Even Graham S who has a UK TT6 admitted it was rather nice...
uncle kev
See jurgen. Hes just found me one. You tell him wat you want and he'll find one and import it for you. He does a top job searching for the right car for you.
Guest Welshjeff
Cheers guys Didm't know the GZ was ever available as manual! Guess with import Supras, anything and everything is an option or possible. The UK 6spd appears the better equipped and more powerful (in standard form) with 326bhp over 280bhp. Are the imports 280 or 326? I know the Japanese car manufacturers have a gentlemans agreement not to officialy quote over 280. What is the real bhp on import TT Supra? The imports look different (better) to UK as well. Not counting aftermarket kits & alloys what are the styling differences? I know the UK has the bonnet vent and the imports usually have side skirts but i can't put my finger on what it is. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help main Uk plus (styling wise) is the glass headlights. con's are no side skirts, headlight washers (most don't like these) bonnet wise both vented and non have their fans.... er No imports have ivory leather, just black i believe.... rear lights are different for uk fog light reg's (hardly are styling difference but i'm starting to struggle!) from experience i'd check out the front ends on UK cars thoroughly, at the age they are now, if original, the IC, Rad and PS pipework can all be suffering at the hands of many british winters (Also the diff cooler - drivers side rear brake vent)
JustGav
Seems crazy to say, but before nailing down a spec... look at what is available, and check the car, and the previous owner... if you have had a good previous owner, you will more than likely be happier with the car as you know everything about it, EVEN if it isn't the ideal spec you wanted. Mine for instance, bought it off a board member... I had the usual requirements, Aerotop, Manual TT.... Lets just say I got only one of those... However.... I got an Aerotop, with UK brakes, Full leather interior (which DB btw, I prefer to the original seats that were in when I looked), and an auto box which is brilliant, and I was told about every little thing on the car that wasn't quite right before I even saw it. Needless to say I've been more than happy with it... nothing like the buzz of the HKS pipe with the roof off... even if it is -3 outside (that is what the heater is for) But then I had some cash in pocket to burn so I could take the car straight away...
