djskeme
I've got the bilstein yellow shocks on my car, but have been told that its been lowered. Having fitted a do-luck front bumper, I cant even park on my own drive now without scuffing the bottom, and speed humps are a nightmare!!! I know some of you guys have kitted bumpers, and obviously drive around regularly, whats the best srpings to make the ride low, but obviously not too low, yet sporty....that I can just upgrade on my current shocks - if thats possible.??? jamesmark
Get a set of coilovers or return to stock. Contact Nic for best prices on coilovers or contact Chris Wilson he does his own suspension and springs kit and only loers it by appx 10mm iirc. miko_supra
the bilstein set up lowers the car from the factory about 1 inch, but if lower springs have been fitted, just get some stock ones fitted if on a budget (the bilsteins are good dont get me wrong)
Chris Wilson
The Bilsteins themselves don't lower the car at all, the sppring perches are exactly the same height as stock KYB dampers. They only lower it if the SPRINGS fitted to them are shorter at loaded compressed length. (Just to clarify).

djskeme
Ok, sounds like stock springs are gonna be my way forward then. Will my 18" wheels still fit the arches well though? or will it look a bit like a monster truck? How hard is it to change the springs? Anyone fancy selling some stock springs in good nick? Chris Wilson
so if you sat a car on billys next to one without (stock) they would be the same height? i always thought the factory Bilstein set up lowered it somewhat Given the same springs, they will sit at the same height. the factory Bilstein set up lowered the car about 10mm all round, and the springs are a bit stiffer, but it's purely the springs governing the height. Put the KYB springs on the Bilsteins and the car returns to stock height
djskeme
Just found this post Cheapest method is to put Grayston coil assisters in each spring - set of 4 will cost you about £38 - these raise everything an inch Are these any good, I reckon the extra inch will sort me out a treat and savemoney and hassle...are these easy to fit? I was contemplating the eibach/bilstein setup but not sure I could live with the headaches going over speed humps and steed drives etc so will still with the KYB springs and billies
