Stevo
Need some suggestions as to what might be wrong... Some one at work has been getting her lad to do me a copy of a film he downloaded on his home PC (Just American Gangster before anyone suggests otherwise!) Anyhow, I gave him a blank DVD-R but have just tried playing it on my Panasonic player (which I know will recognise the DVD-R format) and nothing happens. I get a message saying disc not recognised.... I have used the same discs for other stuff and they work fine. Could it be because of the actual file format? It's saved as an .avi file. Also he used windows vista - some have suggested that vista might be causing the problems. Any ideas?
bromy
Get him to download Winavi, this will convert avi files to dvd files which can then be viewed on your normal player
lexsum
my limited knowledge tells me dvd players don't read this format. they read .vob files i thinks. he should burn it with nero into a dvd format, alternatively you can copy it onto a pc and watch it there or burn another dvd copy.
