Film as in adhesive plastic that is fitted to the paint work.

I think its called venture guard, not sure. Any one tried it?

Or what do they do to protect from stone chips.

I ask becuase my car has had a £3500 quid paint job done on it.

Supragold (Mark) has got it on his. Looks like it would deflect small stones quite well but nothing is going to stop a sizeable chunk taking your paint off.

I had to laugh at JAE as I spotted the line around the outside of the plastic and thought it was a scratch........:) Other option is to use cling film........LOL!

There are many different brands of this stuff out there, although I can't remember the name of many apart from Armorfend.

This thread might help you:

Most of the front of my Elise was Armorfended from new. It's very obvious where it's applied as the gaps have loads of stone chips and the Amorfended bit has none.

You can see the Amorfended front here (previous owner's web page!)

I actually peeled off the bits around the door locks as the edges were dirty. The paint underneath was totally undamaged and the same colour as the rest. That's after 2.5 yrs.

my mate who works at the crysler dealership gets this for the cars they sell, apparently the top of the range stuff is hardly noticeable if fitted properly might be worth going into a place to see examples
