Hi Mr Sky insurance man;), ive rang SKY up before and they would not touch me because of the area I live, is there anything that can be done as you guys have given quotes to people who are younger and have a worse history than me:(
Hi,
we review our postcode restrictions/exclusions on a regular basis. If you PM me your postcode I can check the restrictions.
Thanks

will get onto Sky tomorow and back on the blower to APlan and A/flux to ask why they are quoting me so high!!
Hi,
as I said in my PM, the prices you have got are not high, they are very competitive for a single turbo conversion. Once I have your contact details I will arrange a call back to see what we can do.
Thanks
Ollie

This is not my advice but it has just beens posted on the Aristo forum:
I see it a lot banded across the net "get a traders insurance" and thought it'd be good to have a little discussion on here to help anyone thinking of getting one or to dispel "gossip" or "internet rumours".
I'm not in insurance as you know, but have a fair amount of experience with trade insurance.
A few key facts
1. When you claim, they will only pay out trade value for the vehicle you are driving.
2. Windscreen cover is not normally covered
3. In an event of a claim, they will want to see proof of trading
4. No claims discount on personal insurance/trade insurance is not normally transferable, although most will allow it or make allowances for it.
It may seem the cheaper option to enable a few modified cars in the collection, but if you've lied, like any other insurance, and they find out, they aint going to pay if you claim.
Also, alot of the time, I can't see how it's cheaper for people, if they're reading the policies correctly, as to have a modified import added to your personal cars, adds a huge amount on.
-
what is the trade value of a supra?
Not a lot!!! Also, trader policies are pretty restrictive and you need to be a genuine trader.
-
You are welcome to PM me your full name and postcode and I can clear this up.
-
And apologies, is it a fair request for this thread to be renamed? Unfortunately again, people will glance at the topic title and draw their own conclusion.
-
Hi all, I think Steve is going to clarify but I wanted to put this to bed before I go home for the weekend at 5pm.
Steve had incorrectly ticked a box on the modification report form stating ECU upgrade. There is no ECU upgrade on the car (therefore wouldn't have been mentioned at quote stage). My team have rightly picked up on this and we have written to him stating there is an additional premium due.
This has almost been resolved and there will be no increase in premium.
@ Paul above I am not having a go at you but may I just say that is a good example of why you shouldn't draw conclusions based on what someone has written on a car club forum, there are two sides to every story etc
Have a good weekend guys, nice weather for enjoying your Supras, I'll most definitely be out in my MR2 Turbo.

Stick a pirana in there, they should get on like a house on fire

Guys, I am looking into this one. It is a simple one, if modifications were not given to us on the phone and were ticked on the modification report form (after the policy inception) then they may well be an additional premium due. If the modifications were given to us on the phone, we can track back via the call recording and see what was said. Without listening to the call (which I have not been able to do yet as I only just have the customer's details) it is best not to comment any further or draw your own conclusions.
Kind regards
Ollie

If your wife is aged over 25 , we can have a crack at this for you.
Feel free to PM me contact details and I would be happy to arrange a call back to go through a quotation?
Thanks

Oh and Sky refuse to insure me fully comp until I'm 25, even then there TPF+F quote was very steep.
Hi,
this may be down to your postcode rather than yourself. m In some postcodes where our underwriters' have a higher than normal claims/loss ratio, we have extra criteria that needs to be met, eg age restrictions.
Some of these have been relaxed in the last couple of months so give us a try again!

Best price wins until you need them to help you with a claim - hope they are OK in that respect or that you never need to find out.
Wise words as ever. Cheapest may not necessarily be the best. I understand people are price motivated but personally I'd pay more to be with a company who support the Owners Club and know the cars inside and out.

I am trying to get a decent quote on ANY car.
(ideally id like a runaround)
Im 26, 5 years NCB, Decent postcode. Decent Job Title.
I cant get insurance for less than £70 per month even on 10 year old toyota corrolas 1.4, honda civics 1.4, Corsa 1.2's!! etc..
Has something changed, I fear renewal time on my current policy
I also got a quote on a CBR600 and it was alot cheaper, perhaps its something to consider, although I dont feel like dying!!
When you say 'decent' postcode..... ?

Personally I'd take a well sorted track prepared AW11 Mk1 Mr2 over the MX5 or lardy SW20 Mk2 Mr2.
-
Crikey, I didn't realise there were any of these left!
Fun little car but I have a hatch thanks.
No worries.. its not a good suggestion by me to be fair as it will break and then it will break again and by the time you fix what breaks, they'll be rust holes everywhere..
-
Or I recently bought this for well under £1000..
1372cc, and I've just fitted a T25 turbo from an S13... dont know if it works yet but fingers crossed!
Love it or loathe it.. its a fun little car
And it's faster than an NA Sup

If all the prices you are getting are high, then perhaps another car should be considered? You can give my company a try, please mention Mkiv Supra Club membership and we may be more competitive then other companies.
-
Bare in mind that most/all temp insurers will not cover modified cars.
-
Just (literally 10 minutes ago) renewed with Sky.
Best quote I could find and fantastic service - really friendly and helpful.
Cheers, Luke!

Thanks for the feedback Ben, I'll pass this on to Luke

If you were actually doing 41/42 then I woudn't worry as cameras are usually set to go off 10+ mph over the speed limit. If not then usualy 3 points £60 fine.

Fantastic, many, many thanks.
Photo to be appearing on a Sky Insurance flyer soon.. we might as pick our favourite club to promote ourselves : )
-
This is a bit of a long shot but hope you someone can help, I PM'd Branners but he suggested popping a post up.
We are looking for a photo taken at JAE 2006 of all the Supras lined up with the Sky Insurance banner displayed at the front.. we do have this image but only a poor quality copy.
Has anyone got this at all?
Thanks in advance
