Some people might find the orange/white cable going into number 3 as it's the ringer
Just had a read up on this it was to allow older phones on extensions to ring. It says modern phones have their own detection hardware, so just done a check on my number and all phones still ringing.
Cheers for heads up on that!

Haha well if I can help I'll give it a go... I work for a major commercial telecoms company fixing faults remotely so this sort of thing is familiar to me
cool, At end of the day I know if i want real top speed I need to go Cable.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing mate
it's a result that your connection is better. I'm not sure you'll find it more stable though, possibly less in some situations. The 3mb threshold is there for a reason after all...
I'll update this thread to let people know how its going to make sure it doesnt make things worse.. You following my IT threads today

I think its gonna be router too, im tempted to go back a firmware version. As I think I switched to wireless around time I upgraded the firmware.
So Guess that could be the problem. When it fails it gets no where doesnt even hit the router.
Router is on all the time as well its mounted up on the wall in the room so not covered. Yes tried rebooting it mate.

yep second turbo kicks in fine the mechanic drove the car 2 weeks back and it shifted fine he said everything is boosting and second turbo is kicking in around 3000 rpm,
Sometimes its known not to bring the 2nd turbo in first time and reapplying the accerlarator will bring it online.
I have to admit sounds like clutch though it being ok one minute and not the next makes me wonder what it could be. It may be an idea to get another member to drive it.

Waste gate sticking. If it doesn't open the car becomes sluggish and un turbo like.
Believe the spring sticks....and this happens.
From reading this thread I dont think its this.
Jazz are you sure the 2nd turbo is coming online?

This will only work if the components you are taking off the network aren't up to the spec of your network or are faulty. Personally I'd be ruling out those things first.
you may be right there, I was told maximum connection I could have stable on my phone line was about 3mb, due to things including noise on the line, so I guess if the line noise margin is increased, means the speed can increase!
Glad to see MRX has done it as well or id begin to think I am a one off!

Simple question. Anything between router and problem PC? Have you tried physically moving the PC? Interferance can be caused by microwaves, cordless phones etc etc and i've heard of this dropping packets.
I had a cordless phone in this room so this got moved about 20ft away and out of the room with the PC and router.
I have moved the tower about within around 3ft (space where its kept) and makes no difference.
I normally can solve stuff like this but this one has got me!
-
cheers Guys
Gaz - Tried hard wiring PC and pinging the router then i dont lose packets. Attached screenshot of packet loss when wireless. When wired all

Which RangeMax is it? I had similar problems with the DG834PN. I think I got there in the end, after altering/disabling various settings but overall it just didn't work very well at all.
Good guess...now what are those settings

Not yet mate. Will be doing it in the presence of Mr BT engineer Monday though..
If its anything like BT man who came to mine, he'll say BT is only responsible up to the point where the main box enters the house and then wont advise you on other areas because as far as they concerned they can only guarantee the connection up to that point.
-
anyone else had sucess with this?
looks like MRX had before me. I didnt think it would do anything but it did.
-
Perhaps pics may be wise dude, i can imagine somebody reading this and attacking the wrong sockets
Pics seriously not needed
Every telephone socket i opened has 6 points where the wires clipped in...numbered 1 - 6
Remove everything but 2 and 5
take a photo before incase you need to put them back.
If your not sure whether your about to undo cover on telephone socket, put the screwdriver down and step away.

oooh im meant to be getting 24meg, but am only getting 8 at the mo
definately gonna give this a go - nice one mate
Let me know I want to know if others gain as much as me, also check the noise margin if that goes up the ISP may take a few days to up speed as they test line with reconnections to see if your line will hold it.
-
Mate I just tested and mine came out at 1.9 bloody 3 and I'm paying for 8.
What's going on????
I have got a engineer coming out Monday but hell what do you recommend.???
Have you done the above? It took 5 mins for me to do all sockets. 2 screws on each one and pull out the other wires apart from 2 and 5 as they are not used.

1,6,11.
All about same, no particular channel is better then the other. My router has option of channels 1 -13
-
So I then decided to ping the router itself and getting time outs to the router. So ive got it down to the connection between router and PC
So I know its inside which is annoying me, nothing is working so far!
-
its happening all the time. If i leave a ping going, every 10 - 20 succesfull

Some wireless cards are utter crap, same with the management software. I hate wireless networks, they are very inconsistant.
If you get fed up trying, pick yourself a linksys or netgear wireless PCI card up and right that to your router. Who makes your current hardware?
Netgear Router Range max edition
2 Wireless usb cards tried (infront of pc for better signal)
* ASUS
* Netgear
its bugging me, when pings are going through everything is quick when it stops, everything dies on the connection, web page loading the lot.
-
as far as i can tell no its not, Its got antivirus software on it....Im tempted to format it and start again.
Forgot to add signal strength is 'very good' (80%)

I have a wireless network seems to run fine. I am running a machine about 10ft (in same room) from wireless router and been having speed problems. So I was doing ping tests to google and found pings dropping. So I then decided to ping the router itself and getting time outs to the router. So ive got it down to the connection between router and PC
So I got a 2nd USB wireless network card and tried that same problem, changed the channel same problem again.
I cant my head round it! Anyone got any ideas?

Alex it must be fustrating I was fustrated with 3 -4 mbps

I thought Id post a link to this as it worked for me
I never even knew disconnecting other wires I should of really as I use to work with Telex.
Anyway I disconnected all wires in the extension boxes and the main box around the house and my broadband speed went from 4mb to my full 8mb
Chuffed to bits. Also my Noise margin went up from 6Db to 10Db so it means a more stable connection too, so it should be able to handle the higher speeds without dropping out.

Its worth a go for those people paying for 8mb and getting 3 or less. Just take photos of the sockets before so you can put the wires back if needed, but i doubt you will as phones only use 2 and 5.
Whilst I did the wires, I turned the router off (pulled the plug) so it didnt keep trying for a connection.
Hope this helps someone.

I thought i'd post this up as it is a bargain! Couple of friends went aned picked theres up. Even the guy working was surprised at the price.
I just managed to get my broadband from 4mb to 8mb easily (details inside)

No probs all this info is usefull. Ive read i now need to wait 3 days of a sync'd rate of 8125 to be able to download at 7.5mb but 12 hours on everything is ok.
Interesting read!
