  1. Well I have now put the car in TTC mode and both turbo's are not coming on at all! When the Supra was in Sequential mode the first turbo would boost, and the second turbo wouldnt start and all the boost would escape stopping both turbos Now in TTC mode neither turbo will boost! and it feels probably worst than a NA there is no power at all but still runs smoothly does that make any sense at all? When i took the big Air intake hose off to get at the pipes to the EGCV valve and VSV there isnt any sign of oil! which is a good sign. So whats going on? possible leak near the pressure tank under the manifold?
  2. Unfortunately i dont have a mechanical aftermarket boost gauge at the moment that i can quickly hook up, but what i can say that the Supra stops pulling and feels like an NA at 4k rpm which suggests to me that there is no boost driving Turbo #1 beyond 4k rpm for some reason it sounds like the main valve controlling the boost for the overall system is releasing the boost at 4k rpm.. would that make any sense?
  3. Actually instead of putting the supra in True Twin mode, i'll just disconnect the Hose on the EGCV Actuator and see if it vents to air, it'd be quicker!! if it doesnt then thats where the problem is, surely? No point putting it in TTC mode since i know the IACV VSV is working!
  4. Nice one, what i'll do before Saturday is test the EGCV Actuator with a bike pump and check if that works and doesnt leak, then put the Supra TTC mode rather than Sequential which will bypass the EGCV VSV and the IACV VSV if the 2nd Turbo comes on in TTC mode and maintains high boost then it has to be a fault with the EGCV VSV! if it is the EGCV VSV thats faulty i doubt i will be able to get a replacement in time for the dyno day.
  5. Just had a quick play around in the engine and the IACV Actuator is closed in idle, and when you rev the engine to around 4k rpm, the Actuator opens up, you can actually see this operate when the engine is idle, which suggest to me that both the IACV Actuator and the IACV VSV are both working, and the air flow pressure to the IACV Actuator and VSV is fine.. However the EGCV Actuator doesnt open up, whether it opens when the engine is in idle or under load I wouldn't know.. actually, I don't think it would, because it relies on the manifold pressure to open up the EGCV Actuator! I wonder if the EGCV VSV is working.. does anyone know of a way to test the EGCV VSV solenoid? Wish I had a bicycle pump handy to test the Actuator.. I am getting there I suppose.. just hope I can get it fixed before Thor's dyno day on Saturday! Cheers James
  6. I had a look this lunch time at all the pipes going to both the IACV VSV and the IACV actuator, i also checked the all the pipes going to both the EGCV VSV and the EGCV actuator, and everything seems fine.. now where the heck is the pressure tank? i couldnt see it from the top of the engine bay.. i understand its under the manifold? has anyone got a pic handy to show me the location of the pressure tank? i am assuming i would need to follow the IACV pipes which would lead me to the pressure tank, is this correct? whats the best way to access the pressure tank? can it be seen easily from underneath the car? Please correct me if im wrong, but i am assuming that the pressure tank is used to build up the pressure to open up the EGCV actuator, after all it's alot bigger than the IACV actuator! Is it true that the TTC mod would bypass the pressure tank? if so it might be easier doing the 30 minute conversion without jacking the supra up.. cuz i am now thinking there's a problem with either a loose hose under neath the car which connects to the tank or the tank itself is leaking badly... what do you lot think? Cheers James
  7. This is a long shot, but have you tried fensport? they may supply standard japanese disc's there phone no is Tel: +44 (0) 1354 696968 or +44 (0) 7000 336776 http://www.fensport.co.uk they used to be pretty good for supplying parts for MR2 (imports) Cheers
  8. I think you missed that my 2nd turbo isnt kicking in and boosting at all..
  9. Hi Guys, im a new Supra owner, picked the supra up last Friday! just waiting for my NOCHEX account to activate for membership.. I've got a couple of minor issues at the moment, one being the 2nd Turbo not running!! but if I can it sorted before the dyno day I'd like to get a baseline plot to give me an idea what my standard spec Supra is running at, before I start modding!! Other prob includes missing Traction control relay, jammed driver side mirror (wont fold), and I dont think the air con is working? other than that its mint! I sourced the supra from newera imports, spoke to Miguel earlier today and he is willing to help out once i have found the source of the problems. By the way what time does this event start? 10am? i will be coming from East sussex, up A21 M25 M1.. hopefully i should be following Matt there, he's not hard to miss Cheers! James
  10. I definitely do not think it is a blown turbo for a Supra that has only done 20k miles. I am sure you'd see it pissing blue smoke out the exhaust.. The 1st turbo whistles it definitely doesn't whine.. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact the traction control is missing, or I have heard that the supra fuel pump operates in two modes, cruise and for heavy loads.. I wonder if it is stuck in cruise mode? or could the waste gate be stuck open on the 2nd turbo? Keep your ideas coming in, I am open to suggestions.. You will probably see me at Petes event at Coventry this Saturday, doubt my supra will be fit for the rolling road tho! Cheers, James
  11. Hey i hope not barry!! the supra has only done 21000 miles and the original owner had a turbo timer.. cheers cashpoint, i'll check the pipes later, i had a look earlier didnt see anything wrong or unusual apart from the missing traction control relay
  12. I had a quick drive during my lunch hour to see when the boost drops, it drops in every gear when it reaches 4k rpm and the second turbo never kicks in.. I have noticed that there might be a missing relay in the ABS Trac box in the engine bay on the driver side.. There are only 2 relays in there, both appear to be for the ABS... Another thing i have noticed is the dash "Slip Off" light never comes on when you press the traction controll button.. could this be the problem? or could the wastegate for the 2nd turbo be stuck open? The 1st turbo is definitely working! Cheers James.. 07966 245296
  13. Hey Roy, i am hopeless with names, sorry I couldn't remember yours! Hope you got your EGT gauge sorted out Roy! it funny seeing you squirm when the Ferrari engineer started drilling down on your manifold Cheers dude I may just do that, I'll give you a bell in the next couple of days..
  14. For those of you who didn't know, I picked up my new supra on Friday its a 1998 RZ-S vvti with 6sp manual in quicksilver! I have already met Matt from Sextons and I think Bobbeh? with the Black GZ Supra and TRD spoiler who was having a EGT sensor fitted.. I had the opportunity to get to know my Supra driving over 600 miles this weekend, and I did notice a problem with the boost.. when I was driving the supra hard in mainly first and up to 4th gear the boost gauge would max out then cut down to zero when the rev's went over 5k rpm.. which was rather annoying.. in my old mr2 I could redline in all gears and maintain max boost.. it just feels like i've got a fuel cut which is kicking in for a few seconds when I hit max boost.. am I right?
  15. I am absolutely knackered! just drove back home from manchester! Matt, thanks for your help earlier, I left a message on your voice mail i dunno if you got it, but after turning down the glass sensor sensitivity the problem appears to go away! I can now understand why i was getting 3 pulses on the LED indicating that the motion/tilt sensor was activated since the glass sensor is tapped into the motion/tilt cabling.. I will adjust the sensitivity of the glass sensor tomorrow and see how i get on with it.. Ooops, the Supra justed barked outside at the trees!
  16. I wouldnt have a clue to be honest, but after reading the user manual last night, i read a section about the Smart prior intrustion attempt alert. Every time the alarm went off last night, i heard 3 chirps when i remotely disarmed the alarm. the manual tells u to count the number of LED flashes when you put the key in the ignition.. i get 3 flashes then a small pause, and another 3 flashes, which indicates that the tilt/motion sensor was activated apparently.. Is this telling me that either motion sensor or the omni sensor was activated? I thought the motion sensor wasnt prone to false alarms cuz it analyses pitch yaw and motion data regardless of condition? I dont know if this would help, but i parked my car in the drive last night on a slight incline, between a high fence and the house, think it could be the wind setting the omni sensor off? regards James
  17. Hi guys, I just had my alarm fitted today, hope Matt Harwood is around, I had a Clifford 600 and the Omni sensor and glass sensor fitted, and one of the sensors is way too sensitive, I have managed to find a way of disabling the proximity sensor from my fob and the alarm is still going off. how to you override the Omni sensor and glass sensor? cuz I cant find how to do this via the instruction manual... if you know how to override the omni sensor or the glass sensor please contact me on 07966 245296 or 01254 385852.. Thanks in advance!!! James...
  18. Who is Gavin L? I assume that he is another supplier? which company does he work for? does he do a 2 pod or 3 pod a-pillar? Cheers James
  19. I am after the same size as you SMW! 2 x 275/35/18.. are goodyear F1 the ones to go for on a Supra? at the moment i've only been looking for prices for the Dunlops sp 9000! £182.50 from mytyres kwikfit charge £223.99 per tyre. SMW what size have you got on your fronts? I think mine are 245/45/18's
  20. Thanks for the pics guys, I would prefer an A-Pillar that replaces the original rather than have one bolted on.. the defi gauges look really good on the apillar.. i've not decided what brand of gauges to go for yet, but the defi are a strong contender at the moment!
  21. A custom triple for the Supra? hmmm i'd be interested depending on the quality of the custom triple pod a-pillar, possible group buy? Does anyone know whether the 2 pod greddy replaces the whole a-pillar, or is it bolted on top of the existing a-pillar?
  22. I do like the 2 pod GReddy A-Pillar, but i would prefer a 3 pod.. i know Lo-Tek do a triple pod for LHD.. surely there's a japanese company that does one for RHD?
  23. The Cat1 alarm alarm is already covered, im pretty sure the Apexi Exhaust is going to be in the region of 600 quid maybe more. I've just been on Miami Rice, Envy and Whifbitz site's and there's no sign of the elusive Triple Pod A Pillar... I'll probably wait until xmas before i get the exhaust sorted, but there's no harm in getting my A pillar sorted out in the mean time.
  24. Well its only gonna be a few more weeks before i pick up my supra! hopefully... and already im planning my first stage of mods and here's what i am after.. Boost Gauge EGT Gauge Oil Temp Gauge Triple Pod A-Pillar (60mm or 52mm) no idea which size i should go for. and where can i buy a triple pod A-Pillar from? i can only find one from suprastores for left hand drive supras Apex'i GT Spec Exhaust 2 Piece Down pipe, so i can swap 2nd piece for the 2nd cat during mot time.. is this worth it? or should i get a single pipe? Exhaust restrictor ring from chris wilson. ( Are there better methods of overboost protection? ) like a fuel cut controller? Matt Harwood, if you see this im gonna have to get in touch with you soon to sort out the clifford alarm installation. only problem is, im not entirely sure when the supra will be going in for the SVA. Another thing, looks like i need to pay 10 quid membership fee. can i do this by cheque? Cheers James
  25. From what i've heard about removing the cat on jspec supra's a EGT Gauge would be very handy indeed. it would certainly warn people if you are running too lean before you start melting those pistons!
