  1. spoke to trading standards earlier, and apparently thats not the case.. from what they told me I've spoken to miguel this afternoon and I will now be taking the car back to motormall, he is convinced that the reason that the car is miss firing is because there's a huge air leak causing the car to overfuel in turn flooding the spark plugs which is causing the engine to missfire... it sounds reasonable to me but i've no idea where the loose hose is and i definitely can not hear any farting hissing noise i would expect from a big 4" hose!
  2. well RAC will be here within the next hour, have to see what happens when they get here.. i asked if they would change sparkplugs and they said they would if they have the part in the van.. good thing i know 4 local auto parts companies including partco in the immediate area
  3. if i get NGK BKR7E, does that mean i will need to gap them to 1.1mm or are they pregapped?
  4. I've got home start with RAC, think they could help in replacing the plugs? cuz i've no transport to get the spark plugs and my car is more less undrivable in the condition that its in at the moment
  5. Where can i get hold of a set of spark plugs asap? ie tomorrow morning! my car is miss firing badly and need to get hold of a spare set of spark plugs and quickly change them all.. I've no idea what kinda plugs to get either, my supra is completely standard.. someone mentioned Denso IK24's on another thread, but where can you get these from on short notice? can anyone suggest any alternatives? dont care if they are cheap providing they will last at least 6000 miles until i get some good quality ones.. is there anything that i need to be made aware off when buying spark plugs? like gapping? platinum tips?
  6. once i've got the car running and back on the road again, then i will approach Miguel again and sort out the problem with the air con compressor.. my main concern at the moment is the fact that my car isnt drive able at the moment. I've just had a mate over and he has told me that the car is miss firing badly he could tell it was miss firing when the car was in idle and when we went out for very short drive up the road and back.. the car was struggling to make the revs.. if i put the gas to the floor in first gear it would struggle to make the revs and he thinks that because the car is missfiring badly its not producing the power to be able to create any pressure.. i kinda think this is plausible. what do you guys think? i definitely agree that the car is miss firing badly, but could this prevent any boost? whats interesting is that the air filter case has cracked where it is bolted on to the body work, and he thinks that due to the fact that the car is miss firing the engine is probably shaking and snapped the plastic mount for the air filter casing..
  7. thanks Rob_B I thought they would have oblidged to replace it, or at least investigate the problem, but i dont think bad mouthing them on here is the answer, after all they were very good replacing both turbos when i had a problem with the 2nd turbo since i collected the supra for the first time.. just a shame the motormall (newera's uk agents) who replaced the turbos screwed up when they reconnected the hose from the pressure tank and claimed that they have tested the supra and hooked up a boost gauge and told me the car was driving how a normal supra should! obviously not
  8. you're right JamesG, and since i've had the car over 2 months it hasnt been right... its been one thing and another. the last straw today was when the compressor siezed.. but first thing first i need to sort out the leak and get my car back on the road before i start with the letter.. Wez, it wont be the waste gate stuck open, because i am getting no pressure whatsoever from the pressure tank.. you should get a hiss when you remove the hose to the IACV VSV, which means it must be a leak from the main intercooler pipes... i hope!!
  9. Didnt you hear a hiss of escaping air when you had the same problem? i dont hear anything.. and i thought you would if such a large intake pipe becomes disconnected.. a mate of mine is at b&q as i speak, just asked him to get me a torch that plugs into the cig lighter.. so might be able to have another look later.
  10. Since it was imported nearly 2 months ago its had both turbos replaced at the cost to Newera imports and now I've got a serious boost leak somewhere within the system, im getting no boost whatsoever and the car is struggling big time coasting around at 20~30mph.. I've tried looking at the intercoolers but its a pain in the arse in the dark to see anything and my torch has died!!
  11. Yay! the flipping tap decided to turn this morning with little effort!
  12. I will be using the toyota's 50/50 premixed coolant called ForLife no idea on the grading tho, but the jspec capacity is around 8 or 9 litres.. bout 14 quid for 5ltr
  13. Cheers lee, at least i am on the right lines, i'll have another look tomorrow since i've got the day off work I tried turning the plastic t shaped thing but since it was in an awkward position it wouldnt budge clockwise or anti clockwise.. so i left it cuz i didnt wanna break anything as i didnt really know if i had found the tap at the time..
  14. Ok here is a pic of the stock radiator and a Fluidyne radiator the radiators are upside down but you get the idea, on the right hand side there's the drain pipe about 3" long, I know where this is on my supra and i've connected a hose pipe to it, but even from this pic i still can not see where the drain tap/cock is
  15. This is doing my head in! I disconnected the top coolant pipe to the rad, i can feel the rad drain pipe, but i cant figure out where the flipping tap is, i can feel something like a T piece, and it kinda feels like plastic, is this the tap?! if it is its a damn pain in the arse to get to with the intercooler pipe in the way at the bottom!!
  16. So i just remove the bits highlighted in Red (see attached) to gain access to the drainage tap at the bottom of the rad?
  17. you need to remove the bottom rad pipe to turn the tap to drain the system?
  18. Where is the dizzy cap on the Supra RZ-S VVTi? I just had a quick look now and i couldnt see it, getting dark out there ya see! I have a feeling its under the rocker cover where the spark plugs are am i right? or am i miles out!? I have a feeling that the Dizzy cap on the Supra is a mechanical device just like the MR2 GT Turbo which has a rotor arm that spins around and hits the contacts, if so i wanna check the internals because the contacts inside have a tendancy to oxidize.. you're probably wondering why i wanna check the dizzy cap? well i experienced some missfire today beyond 5k rpm and a puff of black smoke out the back.. I am tempted to get some new spark plugs, what would you guys recommend? i am running competely stock at the moment, but will be getting a decat pipe in a few weeks.. cheers James
  19. How do you gain access to the tap at the bottom of the radiator to remove the coolant? can you turn it on from the top or do you need to get underneath the car gain access to the tap? I have got two covers under the car, one cover under the nosecone and a large cover directly under the engine will i need to remove them both or just the one under the nosecone? Regards James
  20. Cheers dude, it is as simple as i thought it would be
  21. Morning all, Since its a dryish morning today, i have been preparing the boot interior for dent magician to come and have a look at an annoying dent just above the petrol cap. I have removed the 2 plastic bits in the boot to reveal electric aerial, i dont want to remove the aerial now but i was wondering how you would normally remove it. I can see one bolt which appears to be 12 mm, and a thick plastic tubing which seems to go down and disappear through the bottom of the boot.. is this some sort of drainage which just pulls out and unplugs from the bottom of the boot? I've a feeling that to remove the aerial all you need to do is undo the one bolt and push the aerial down from outside? could someone confirm that this is the case? cheers James
  22. awww! i wanted to goto Thor next week for a dyno run!!
