  1. In my humble opinion and 3 years of college doing my city and guilds, cross drilled discs are the best IF they are good quality, the surface area will be the same as a normal disc near enough but what your looking towards is the loss of heat overall, the cooler your brakes the better they perform. Good quality steel with a good carbon content will not crack around the holes prematurely, all discs will eventually wear out and thats whats likely to happen before any cracking. Just look at established racing car mfrs, they use cross drilled discs, and if the weight is an issue, take a look at an SL500 mercedes discs....
  2. Friday 30th sounds good, i'll trick the missus into coming with the lure of some in-car entertainment;) I'm just outside london in good old essex, where's good to meet and where will we be goin? My lil ol TT will be off the road next month cos I gotta get tax and 2 new tyres and remove the front bumper to install some mesh to prevent any stone punctures so this will be my last spin out for 4 weeks or so. Chris:devil:
  3. Is it just me or does the idea of 5-6 (possibly more) supra's bombing down the road in a convoy seem wicked...?:flame Dev
  4. West End of London...sounds good.. when??
  5. I hope so Kevin, perhaps when I get a bit of time i'll email them and find out, unless of course you want to do it? If they can accomodate us then I'll definately buy a set. Chris
  6. Thanks Guys!! I like the look of the EL instruments on SPEEDHUT.COM, I think i'll get a set if another 13 people want them then they'll run production, go have a look in the development section. Chris
  7. I am thinking about removing my instrument cluster and replacing the illumination bulbs with high-intensity LEDs, anyone ever done this? I hope it will light the dash up brighter and i'll let you know how i get on. Chris
  8. Hi guys, this is a subject I know a little about, not a lot but a little, its not illegal to own or operate a RADAR detector as the signals they recieve are not interpreted merely indicated by type of RADAR band and strength. LASER diffusers are also not illegal but you could be charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and obstructing the police in the course of their duty. tut tut! RADAR can be jammed by use of a MAGNETRON, these are found in your domestic microwave and emit microwave radiation, much the same way as a GATSO operates. I have had this confirmed by a person I know that works for Raytheon engineering, this comany make RADAR devices for the military, so its safe to say he knows his stuff, unless of course he is the janitor and is not telling me the truth! I am yet to discover how you can employ your microwave to defeat GATSO's without microwaving your brain, but if and when I do I will divulge it for testing purposes. Chris :flame Dev

  10. Well you lot know better than me anyways cos I have only just got mine...
  11. Yes the power outputs of a 60's engine may not be relevant but engine building practices are the same on any reciprocating internal combustion engine, and the fundamentals are what you NEED to know in order to correctly build an engine. Head flowing, vacuum testing, port polishing, engine balancing etc are all still the same principles no matter who the engine is made by!
  12. Holy Shit!! Rethink perhaps, plus my auto box may not be able to withstand more than 500bhp, and 500 is more than enough i reckon!!:flame Dev
  13. I just thought I would say while we are on the subject of UK spec engines that hopefully a friend of mine has sourced a fairly low mileage UK spec engine which I am going to dismantle and re-build. I think its going 6to take a while but I thought about changing all the internals for uprated parts (low friction small skirt racing pistons, balances 1 piece conrods etc) will have to be one part a month until i have done it, but I managed to squeeze 160 bhp out of an old crossflow once so im sure i can make this one fly. Anybody got any useful stockists for racing parts? Is this going to be hideously expensive?:flame Dev
  14. If you go to links, then the blitz website you will see that there is a downloadable installation guide, it looks like there are 5 wires to connect in total. Blitz do stock a harness for you to use instead of loads of cutting I believe. :flame Dev
  15. Hi Guys... The word from TGB is that the workshop manuals are no longer available which is really handy, the supra hasn't been out of production for very long and they have already run out... you want to hope you dont need a replacement oe part! When I get some money i will be having a little play with the engine, I think some samco hoses would look nice!! (and a huuuuuge water/air intercooler and water injection when i hike up the boost) There;s so much I would like to do but money is gonna be the problem at leat til i have paid it off... 18 months to go. Perhaps I should see the missus for some adjustable suspension!
  16. Hi guys I have now aquired a '95 TT auto UK spec car and its fantastic, very clean and totally standard (rubs hands together gleefully). However I have some issues, these being I wish to obtain a workshop manual but haynes do not do them, has anyone got one or know where to get one? I also have a problem with the headlight washers, they dont work, its not the fuse because the wipers and washers share the same fuse and the wipers work, the windscreen washers also work. any ideas? Pump failure? I suppose i have to remove the sodding bumper to get access to the washer bottle dont i. I also wish to remove the intercooler and clean it as its jammed with road shit, bumper off again? i think i'll fill the holes in the bumper with mesh to stop stone holes too!
  17. This £1100 quid quote, what insurers was that with? I can get a quote on UK car for 800 but j-spec is 1500, i'm 25!
  18. HaHa, the headlight washers dont really bother me, what does bother me is the cost of insurance being nearly twice as much!! The active spoiler...now your talking!
  19. i cant find the UK spec manual, how much is it so i can narrow the search, and what colour? Thanks!
  20. Yes the UK spec were better than the Japanese vehicles, bigger brakes, bigger turbos, bigger injectors etc, click on the imports buton at top of the page and look at the differences section. Plus the cost of insurance is about half!
  21. anyone know what sort of power the auto box will cope with?
  22. only thing is i cant find a UK manual car!!!
  23. I have found a UK supra but its an auto and if i start fiddling i dont think the auto box will stand up to it, is it expensive/difficult to change to a manual box?
