Yep thats right only now its locked all the time, the only time it will open on the central locking is if the door is open but pressing the button to lock. Nothing happens when it is pressed to open either with the door open or closed(no clicking etc). In fact even with the key or the alarm fob it will not unlock the central locking. Have been to my local breakers today to obtain the bits but the boss was not in so i have to return tomorrow. Thanx for all the advise Mark

What i thought was the water level light wasn't! it was the low oil light! which only came on for a second going down hill on tick over. Checked oil and it was above the low level but filled it up anyway and light didn't come on this morning on my way to work. Problem solved The door locking syndrome continues also the opposite unlocking has happened. Its difficult to explain but i will be driving along everything as normal then the doors just lock! some times they just remain locked until i finish my journey other times i goes into a fit of clicking. EG if you put the key in the door and lock and keep locking it again the motors still operate but the locks are already locked. Also sometimes the lock/unlock button inside the car will only lock or unlock when the above problem occurs. Any more pointers Thanx Mark

Nope std toyota also water level light came on and went off only for a couple of secs checked level and seems fine i think this may be a bad earth too

Pls help my car has an intermitent fault, only when the ignition is on it locks on its own. I think its a bad earth but any ideas where to check first. Any help would be Appreciated Thanx Mark 93 UK 6spd std

Had the same problem with mine (93 UK Manual) as in dummy LED brake light! I was told that the reason that they are dummys that LED brake lights were not legal in the UK untill 94 or 95! First of all a new LED brake light unit from Toyota is appox £115 plus VAT. Then you have to figure the wiring out i spent endless hours trying to trace the wire i even asked at Toyota all they said was it should work in the end i wired it to the brake lights! The wire goes up through the boot lid to the top of the roof lining and then forwards as to where your guess is as good as mine best of British! Mark

No luck in sourcing the boot mounted brake light yet with LEDs in it! So can't post any details on how to wire. My MkiV is red. My MkIII is black

Oh well can but try! Sure ill get one as I picked up a mint s/hand rear seat in cream leather the other week as i had a small mis-hap with a circular saw with my original one OUCH!

Thanx for that info guys! Any ideas about how to wire one up & can I install LEDs in the existing unit. Toyota want £117.00 plus VAT for the unit. P.S. there is a connector in the middle of the boot lid but no power to this. Hi everyone! My UK 93 6sd has a problem. The boot mounted brake light is not working. I have stripped it down and found no wires attached to the unit and no LEDs inside! There seems to be no signs of tampering either? My local Toyota dealer says it should work but are listing 2 but apparently these are the same. Please help.
