  1. Not tranny related but I once changed an engine in my old kit car from a pinto to a zetec . I called the dvla and was told simply to send in the v5 with the changes- easy I thought.

V5 received back 6 weeks later with the old engine still on it, no explanation why.

So the endless circular pone call started, with their "specialist" ( I'm not sure in what sense) department telling me the car would need a full inspection by either the AA or VOSA costing anywhere from 300-600 pounds.

Having laughed in the girls face and calling the AA they said they did not provide the service but a letter from any garage should do.

Spending another hour on hold I eventually spoke to someone who told be in under ten seconds that would be fine.

So sent in the letter with the v5 and it was done.

Long and short if it is that DVLA is full of desk dwelling muppets unable to be helpful .

I suspect a garage "inspection" letter plus v5 should suffice

  2. It really winds me up that there's no come back on "tuners" you spend all the time , effort, passion and money building something and if they mess up they can just rub their hands and say oh well it happens.

Sounds like anyone could set up a tuning shop.

That's what truly annoyed me about my first mapping session when they said they had experience just to take the money but then proceeded to run it as lean as they could under boost.

  3. So the fic us out and running completely stock ecu?

Could it be something daft like moisture in the spark plug wells?

If you think it's the fuel trims pull the negative terminal on the bag for five minutes then go for a drive, after reattaching it obviously and see if that cures it or if it comes back after 15 minutes,

What ecu you going for next?

  4. Good luck getting the alternator bolt off, still trying to do mine

  5. If it moved before you may have adjusted one side too far so the other side is stuck.

I had the same issue with my GZ seats, the cam gears for the rail are made out of plastic and wear over time so the motor will work but they won't move on the rails.

You can check this by stripping down the rails and the gearing to see if they are worn. If they are then it's a case for either replacing the rails or getting new cogs.

This is what mine looked like image

  6. i think dazzi does some adaptors to get the xs manifold to clear the dizzy. you could always cut the flange off the xs and weld a larger one when you need a larger turbo!? saves having to buy a new one, although i dont know what other options, besides the whiffbitz kit is out there.
